SKILL ACQUISITION / AGRO FARMS: Hope For Nigeria Inaugurates Delta Chapter, to Train Beneficiaries on 7 Skills as it Flags-off Project

The Hope For Nigeria (HFN), a non-governmental organization that has chosen to assist the government in empowering young people through skill acquisition training inorder to make them self reliant, has inaugurated its Delta State chapter as well as flagged-off its skill acquisition and agro farms empowerment project scheme in Warri, Delta State.

The Delta State Chapter of the HFN, which comprises of State Executive Members, Board of Trustees and Local Government Coordinators selected from each of the State's LG, were inaugurated by the HFN National Chairman, Mr. Kerry Sholaye, at the Assemblies of God Church, Igbudu Branch on Sunday, June 18, 2023.

Among the State Executives are Rev. Dr. David Ewomazino Ikogho (State Executive Coordinator), Patricia Agalivie (Secretary) and Rev. Obaro Ikogho (member), while the BoT members include Dr. Orubu Ovie, Comr. Lucky Edoh, Evang. (Mrs.) Catherine Nwokorie and Amb. Okocha.

Speaking briefly at the inauguration ceremony that was well attended by participants who are intending beneficiaries of the scheme, the National Chairman, Mr. Sholaye said: "The persons standing here have the responsibilities to ensure that the project we set up today will become a success.

"Officially I inaugurate everyone standing here and it will be their responsibility to enlighten you (participants)" and he added "We are doing our best from the national (Abuja). When we came to Delta State, the person of our State Coordinator have ensured that Delta gets the maximum," he said, in reference to the beneficiaries of the scheme.

Speaking on the project to be flagged-off, he said: "And on the proposal here I am seeing a project for zero hunger which is a big one. Everyone standing here is going to benefit from this programme, either by your family or by yourself, and even your unborn generation," he assured.

Mr. Sholaye further revealed that the HFN project for Delta State includes seven (7) empowerment skills acquisition which he listed as: ICT (software and website production, and graphic design), Videography and Cinematography, Beauty Production, Fashion and Textile Production, Art & Crafts, Agriculture, and Livestock.

The HFN National Chairman, while noting that other empowerment schemes "have come and gone, and it seems that nothing happens" also reaffirmed to those in attendance that the HFN programme has come to stay as "many will live to celebrate".

He further explained that its funding is "coming from individuals, government, and organisations" with the HFN in strong partnership with one of the top financial houses in Nigeria.

Speaking on behalf of the inaugurated members, the Coordinator of the State Executive, Rev. Dr. Ikogho assured the National Chairman of their zeal to deliver to the objectives of the scheme that is geared to "Creating the Nigeria of our Dream", just as he cautioned the various selected LG Coordinators to be diligent and avoid corrupt practices which will not be cordoned.

Helen Ikogho (Isoko South), Aruoriwo Akpoghene (Ethiope West), Pst. Victor Dede (Warri South), Apst. Paul Omene (Aniocha North), Pst. Morgan Obahor (Ndokwa West), Ineneji Blessing (Okpe), Rev. Bernard Obukowho JP (Ndokwa East).

Others are Agbite Rose (Sapele), Adadamu Vincent (Burutu), Rev. Aminugo Godfrey (Ughelli South), Evang. Efago Simeon (Ethiope East), Apst. Jude Njoarinma (Ika South), Rev. Dr. Matthew Imoniavwodo (Oshimilli North), Apst. Dr. Ekpobimi Matthew (Patani), Rev. Lucky Nzegu (Udu), Samuel Ajalivie (Isoko North), Shode Endurance (Ughelli North), Orevaoghene Efiafia (Aniocha South), Akpoghehe Ogaga (Oshimilli South).

It was also revealed that employment of staff in the HFN Delta State chapter for various positions is still ongoing in all the LGAs of the State via the LGA Coordinators.
