REMEMBRANCE: '9 Years Just Like Yesterday', A Tribute to Our Late Dad, Engr. Francis Gbamisabi Odu A.K.A Paloco
Dear Dad, although your departure from the Earth into the afterlife was just after the Christmas celebration, precisely on the 26th day of December 2014, however the season of Christmas thereafter became a reminder of your tragic passing. On Boxing Day, you couldn't box death into a corner!
Today, the 26th day of December 2023 (Boxing Day) makes it exactly nine years since your passing. Yet it all seems like yesterday that you left us on a journey of no return. Nonetheless we are comforted with the fact that you laid legacies that cannot be erased in the space of time, not even death can kill them.
For instance, you were among the first set of marine engineers from Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State. You were also among the first set of Gbaramatu indigenes that sojourn and dwelled in the city of Warri as far back in the early 60's. Still leading the trail of pioneers, you were among the founders of Bibopere Zion in Okerenkoko Federated Community, an act that saw you among 'The Nine' that were persecuted (through arrest) for daring to preach the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
A true son of Kokodiagbene Community and Okerenkoko Federated Community, both in Gbaramatu Kingdom, as a marine engineer you toured several countries in the African continent and beyond while serving across a board of construction companies. You were such a hardworking and God fearing personality whose relationship with others was dictated by these qualities.
On a day like this (your remembrance), we are comforted with the above knowledge of your accomplishments and we are proud of your achievements, which have become an inspiration to us your descendants.
May your soul continue to rest peacefully in the Bosom of the Almighty God your Creator who has the best plans for you and your descendants. We miss you every passing day but I guess the Almighty God needs you up there than here.
Sleep on Dad.
Fondly remembered by:
