PIPELINE SURVEILLANCE CONTRACT: Reward Tompolo's Patriotism With Urgent Contract Renewal, GYC Tells Tinubu

updated 02 Sep, 2023

The youths of Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, under the umbrella body of the Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC) Worldwide, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently renew the Pipeline Surveillance Contract to Tompolo's security firm, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) as a reward for "Tompolo's patriotism" exhibited in securing oil pipeline assets from vandalism, oil theft, and in ensuring the drastic reduction of environmental pollution in the region.

The leadership of the youth body in the oil-rich kingdom made their position known over the weekend in an official statement released and signed by the GYC President and its General Secretary, Hon. Shadrach Ebikeme, and Comr. Ebikefe Asoh, respectively.

According to the youth body's leadership, Tantita has delivered beyond expectations and as such unwarranted attacks targeted by those it referred to as "misguided" elements will fail.

"The Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC) Worldwide has noted with dismay, over some time now, the peddling of a smear campaign by misguided interests that are seemingly against those of the Niger Delta people in an attempt to discredit the professional services rendered by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited that has been excellently safeguarding oil assets from vandalism, reduction of oil theft and pollution in the region.

"We are very confident that the attempts of these selfish parties to pull wool over the eyes of the Federal Government of Nigeria that is under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not succeed but fail, as the results of Tantita's engagement are transparently before the public because the security firm is delivering beyond expectations," the statement added.

Hon. Ebikeme therefore called on President Tinubu to urgently sign the renewal contract to Tantita, and by so doing put an end to the unwarranted clamour from those that are out on a smear campaign, as well as act as a spur for the security firm to do more.

"We therefore call on President Tinubu to as a matter of urgency sign the renewal of the Pipeline Surveillance Contract previously awarded to Tantita for the organisation to continue its patriotic duty for the general benefit of the country via increased oil production and growth in revenues.

"The renewal of the pipeline surveillance contract will also boost the morale of the organisation to do more on the job which has also reduced youth restiveness as majority of the Niger Delta youths have been engaged," the statement added.
