In a bid to fasttrack its operations toward reaping the benefits of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021, the OKOEA Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 42, Jones Creek field operations in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, has set up its Management Committee of the Trust chaired by Chief Felix Eguare.

The Management Committee who are non-executive members was set up by the OKOEA HCDT Board of Trustees chairman, Hon. Amb. Monday Akpoapaye Mieyefa, at the Ishaka Hotel in Effurun, on Friday, May 16, 2025.

The OKOEA HCDT comprises of the host communities of Okerenkoko, Kokodiagbene, Omadino, Ekpemu Akpata, and Akpata Gbegbe.

Other members of the committee that were successfully screened are Esther David, Mrs. Preye Keniye, Hon. Sinwa Ebizi, Joel Ekpebide,  and Apostle Labort Tonfawei. It was also gathered that more committee members shall be screened by the BoT on a later date.

According to the BoT chairman, Hon. Mieyefa, the Management Committee who are non-executive members are responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Trust on an ad-hoc basis while the executive members of high integrity and professional standing shall be selected by the BoT at a later date.

Hon. Mieyefa while congratulating the non-executive members charged them to work as a team and to seek counsel where needed towards actualising the objectives of the Trust.

In his acceptance speech, Chief Eguare, who is the Yerindewei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, thanked the Board for the opportunity given to him and other members of the inaugurated Management Committee to serve, and called on other members of the committee to join hands with him to work as a team towards the collective development of the host communities of the Trust.

He likewise appealed to their superiors, the BoT, to aid the committee by offering guidance where needed and to share ideas together for the sake of the development of the host communities as well as moving the Trust forward.

Other BoT members present during the setting up of the Management Committee are Engr. Dr. Messiah Doupade, Comrade Jackson Timiyan, Johnny Ebiye and John Frederick Okoroloko.
