PIA: Egbema-OPUDIS HCDT BOT Inaugurate Management Committee

The Management Committee of the Egbema-OPUDIS Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) in Egbema Kingdom, Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, has been inaugurated with a charge to be ready to work hard as it is not yet time for jubilation, especially as the Egbema territory remains undeveloped.

The counsel was given by the chairman of the Trust, Mr. Edmund Doyah-Tiemo, at the brief inauguration ceremony of the Management Committee that held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, in Warri.

The Management Committee members that were inaugurated include Chief Shola Korokoro, Chief Akpasubiwei Sule, Sir Christmas Ukughau, Barr. Ugha Kurumah, Engr. Humphrey Kabe, Anuwo Morris, Ukulor Tamarapreye, Wilfred Kari, Gepele Richard, Sunday Ogunuku, Markson Aboh and Bigha Gbekemi.

Doyah-Tiemo, in his address after the Management Committee members have taken their oath of office, stressed that members of the committee, which is an essential arm of the Trust, were carefully selected to reflect equity and that they should work together as a team inorder to succeed.

"The Management Committee is a very important arm of the Trust. In it, we have well educated professionals endowed with experience in their respective fields. We have taken to assemble this team together, drawn from all the communities in Egbema Kingdom.

"Whilst we would like to congratulate the Management Committee members for being found worthy to represent their communities and the Kingdom, I must hasten to add that it is not to celebrate yet. It is time to prepare for work. It is time for sacrifice and determination to contribute to the development of Egbema Kingdom and by extension Nigeria," he added.

Continuing in his address, he said "Our people in the Riverine areas are the raison d'etre for the establishment of the Trust and they must remain at the center of every action of the Trust and by extension the Management Committee members. Our people are a disadvantaged people and they should rightfully be very expectant of the fruits of the Trust that are expected to raise the abysmally low standard of living.

"In order to achieve results, the Committee members must develop team spirit, hard work and trustworthiness. There is no room for opacity and tardiness in the Trust. We must cultivate the habit of transparency and accountability at all times," he charges

Speaking on behalf of the Management Committee, Barr. Kurumah appreciated the Board of Trustee (BoT) for giving them the opportunity to serve as members of the committee and promised the BoT and the Egbema people that they are not going to go below their expectations.

Other stakeholders in attendance who gave counsel also appealed to the Management Committee members to try to meet up with the expectations of the people of Egbema as well as uphold integrity and be transparent while shunning divisiveness in the execution of their duties.

It would be recalled that the Board of Egbema OPUDIS HCDT were recently inaugurated by the General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs (PGPA) of Chevron Nigeria Limited, Mr  Esimaje Brikinn, in Warri, as part of fast tracking the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) implementation process aimed at driving development in host communities.
