PAP: Otuaro harps on importance of liaison office, warns against unprofessional conduct

The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, High Chief Dr. Dennis Otuaro, has reminded employees in the Amnesty's liaison office of its importance to the smooth running of the programme and its support to the head office in enhancing peace in the Niger Delta region.

Dr. Otuaro gave the admonition to employees of the Delta/Edo liaison office in Warri when he stopped by on a visit on Monday, July 22, 2024.

Accompanying the Amnesty Boss on the visit, among other officials, are the Technical Adviser to the PAP Administrator, Mr. Edgar Biu; the General Manager of Operations, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Sir Godfrey Pondi; S.A to the Administrator, Chief Moses Bebenimibo; Chief Fezigha Odu, Chief Ebimobowei Oguma, and Engr. Ebikonde Sokoto.

Dr. Otuaro, who hinted on the importance of information sharing by the liaison office with the Head Office in Abuja in order to enhance service delivery and create a friendly working ties, also cautioned employees in the liaison office to abstain from conducting personal business while on duty to avoid being sacked.

The PAP Boss further reminded employees that the liaison office which serves as a bridge is a first point of call for delegates, most of whom may not be able to visit the head office in Abuja to file a complaint, and as such employees should exercise patience and courtesy when attending to delegates.

While stressing that the liaison office should not only be accessible to delegates having any legitimate grievances but such should be forwarded to the head office for proper resolution, 

Dr. Otuaro tasked the liaison office management with a directive to constantly report any office-related issues that might be impeding productivity to the head office in Abuja for prompt attention in order to guarantee a progressive and favorable working environment.

The PAP Boss, while reminding employees that the Amnesty Office is a nonpartisan agency that is not affiliated to any political party or person, requested that employees refrain from discussing politics or any associated matters when performing their official tasks at work, and that they ought to offer answers to the problems delegates present to them reiterating his previous stance, which was that everything done in the office should enhance and maintain the Niger Delta region’s general peace process.

In their response, Capt. Presley Prebor, Manager of the liaison office, and Prince Seleakpo Botu, the Assistant Manager, expressed gratitude to the Administrator and assured him that the visitor will provide the employees with the needed motivation and self-assurance to perform their tasks efficiently.

Capt. Presley however appealed to the Administrator on the need for more workspace in the office, which originally was setup to provide for eight staff but is currently hosting 22 employees, resulting in a congestion of the current office space.
