PA. CLARK: Ijaw Senior Clerics pay condolence visit, urge family to uphold father's legacy

Ijaw clerics from across the Niger Delta region and the Diaspora under the auspices of Ijaw Senior Clerics have paid a condolence visit to the family of the late elder statesman and convener of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark OFR CON, who passed away at the age of 97 on February 17, 2025.

The condolence visit by the Ijaw Senior Clerics to the native town of the late elder statesman in Kiagbodo, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, took place on Monday, March 3, 2025.

Among some of the members of the Ijaw Senior Clerics present during the condolence visit are Archbishop Ugbokuro Adaka, Archbishop Elijah Temekoga, Archbishop Godwins Soroaye, Archbishop Elijah Likibe, Bishop Felix Piniki, Bishop Opukeme, Rev Peregbe Odogbo, Rev Dr D. D. Thikan, among others.

The clerics in their condolence message extolled the late Chief Clark for his love for the Ijaw Nation as demonstrated in his service and activism for the prosperity of not only the Ijaw people but other ethnic groups in the country.

Noting among the numerous achievements, they called for the sustenance of the Edwin Clark University which is a living legacy of all time of Chief Clark who they said was a lover of education and a believer in the pursuit of knowledge.

The group also called on other leaders in the Ijaw Nation and in the country to embrace and imbibe the godly virtues of selflessness and the desire for the upliftment of their people which the late iconic leader displayed while he was alive.

In their charge to the family, they urged his descendants to keep alive the legacies of the late Chief Clark whom they described as "an iconic leader of the Ijaw Nation and national leader" and as "an institution that people need to come and learn from."

They reminded members of the Clark family to uphold the dignity of their father who occupied an important position as a national figure in the country, stressing that there's no where they will go in the world and reveal their identity that they will not be given honor.

Highlight of the condolence visit was the offer of prayers by the clerics for the Clark family and for the repose of the soul of the late Ijaw and national leader.
