OPOROZA: Febaide Declares for Chairmanship | List Unity, Human Capital Development as Priority
A frontline aspirant, Mr. Godwin Febaide, popularly known as Hon. Agbadu, has listed love and unity, human capital development among others as his topmost agenda as he declares his interest to vie for the position of chairman in Oporoza community, the traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.
Mr. Febaide made the pronouncement on Sunday, November 26, 2023, as the Apst. Amb. Labort Tonfawei-led executive council bow out of office on the completion of its tenure in the riverine community.
According to Mr. Febaide, who hails from Ikeretimi quarters and the first aspirant to indicate interest for the chairmanship post, while throwing more light on how the community leadership will emerge, said that over the years Oporoza as headquarters and with regard to the traditional stool, has its way of selecting and electing those who will preside over the local affairs of the community without resorting to election.
On his ambition to become the next chairman of Oporoza, he revealed that it is hinged on his desire to bring to bear his years of experience in leadership having served in the past as youth president of Oporoza and as vice chairman of the Gbaramatu Youth Council, GYC, offices he believes has positioned him for good governance.
In his words, "Oporoza people should expect love and unity because without these two no meaningful development can succeed. Where there is love and unity, peace will reign and together nothing will be impossible to achieve.
"Secondly there will be empowerment through human capital development to position our women and youths to thrive independently and in return contribute meaningfully to the development and growth of Oporoza," he added.
He also promised to look into how other external development can be brought to the community through liaising with government agencies, non-governmental organisations, and other stakeholders in the kingdom.
"I am appealing to the people of Oporoza community to support my quest as I have a good mind to lead. I will not let them down but will serve to the best of my capability. Afterall, the development and growth of Oporoza is not an option as there is no better place like home," he said.
