OPOROZA: Elder Okoro makes history with multimillionaire boat gift to Hon. Febaide-led Exco
Elder Amos Okoro, pioneer chairman of the famous Happy Men's Club in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, has gifted a brand new speed boat fitted with a 200 horsepower engine, worth millions of naira to the executive council of Oporoza community chaired by Hon. Godwin Febaide.
The presentation, which was historical, being the first of its kind, took place at the Nigeria Maritime University, NMU, jetty near NPA, Warri, on Friday, May 9, 2025.
According to Elder Okoro, the speed boat gift, presented on behalf of his family, was necessitated by the challenges faced by the exco members of Oporoza community whose functions require them to shuttle between the urban area and the community as well as within other communities in the kingdom.
He urged the Hon. Febaide-led exco to appreciate the goodwill of the Elder Amos Okoro family by putting to good use the speed boat as well as maintain it adequately.
In his response, on behalf of his exco members, Hon. Febaide, popularly known as Agbadu, thanked Elder Okoro for rising up to help alleviate the urgent challenge facing the exco while he also assured him of its use and care.
"I'm assuring Elder Amos Okoro, as Chairman of the community, that this unique gift to the community is a precious one, that the community will always guide and protect it; that it will not be misused and will be kept properly. It will be monitored properly for official use," he promised.
Speaking later to PENGlobal Community, the Chairman of Oporoza community expressed his delight in the development and confessed that it was one of his dreams that has come to reality.
"The gift is a very unique one. The executives and the entire community really appreciate it and it's a plus one to my government. Moreover, it's one of my dreams that I've been praying for. How can I get a boat in the name of the community before my tenure ends? But God was so kind he did it for us through our elder," he added.
Hon. Febaide appealed to other leaders to follow suit by always putting the needs of their community and the kingdom first towards its growth and prosperity.
"My message to other leaders and the elites in Gbaramatu Kingdom is that they should always be open-handed. Such a gift promotes long life and prosperity to one's family. Secondly, they should always put their community and the kingdom first before anything else.
"I really advise others to follow suit so that our communities will be great and greater," he said.
The presentation was witnessed by a former chairman of Oporoza community, Chief Johnbull Demebi, as well as by Amb. Fred Igere, Hon. Emmanuel Juwegha, exco members among others.
