NYSC: Delta State Coordinator Commends Gbaramatu Over Corps Members Welfare as GESUF Appreciates Rt. Hon. Guwor
The Delta State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Mr. Olusegun Alao, has commended Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of the state, for its positive ratings it had earned on the welfare of corps members drafted to the coastal settlement.
Mr. Alao made the disclosure when he hosted a delegation that included some members of the Gbaramatu Educational Support Forum, GESUF, led by its Chairman and its Organiser, Comr. Egbejule Kingsley and Comr. Shadrach Nebragho, respectively, at the NYSC orientation camp in Issele-Uku, Aniocha North LGA, on Thursday, July 20, 2023.
Also among the Gbaramatu delegation during the visit to the State Coordinator are Comr. Ogwara Gabriel, Head Teacher, Ebiabu Primary School, Kokodiagbene; Comr. Ovhorokpa Ese, Head Teacher, Okerenkoko Primary School, Okerenkoko; and Comr Okirika Julie, Head Teacher, Oboro Primary School, Benikrukru.
Mr. Alao, who said he had heard so much about Gbaramatu Kingdom, revealed that he is eager to visit the kingdom in the coming months when he is less busy so that he can see for himself the much-talked-about coastal settlement.
The State Coordinator also promised to look into the demands of the delegation as it concerns increasing the numbers of corps members to help bridge the gap of lack of teachers in the riverine areas of the state.
Speaking to PENGlobal Community shortly after the visit, Comr. Egbejule, who said the meeting was a successful one, noted that with the understanding of the State Coordinator, he believes the NYSC will surely help in boosting education in the creeks by acquiescing to the demands of GESUF to increase the number of corps members drafted to the kingdom.
He said, "We had a very fruitful meeting with the State Coordinator concerning the deployment of corp members to Gbaramatu Kingdom, and he promised to do his best particularly as it is in their records that Gbaramatu takes care of corp members, care for them, and accommodate them.
"Also, the State Coordinator promised to pay His Royal Majesty a visit, as from the months of September, October, when he is less busy, to see what Gbaramatu looks like, as he has been hearing of the name 'Gbaramatu' for long. Such a visit is a welcome development," Comr. Egbejule added.
Speaking further, the chairman of GESUF while expressing his appreciation to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, said: "We want to thank Mr. Speaker for the work he is doing towards the development of education in Gbaramatu Kingdom; he has always been there for us as a father and as a political leader."
