NMU: Proprietor commends Tinubu on maritime bill, praises Tompolo for prioritizing devt, reviving Ijaw traditions
The Proprietor of Icon United Millennium School at Orhuwhorun Town in the Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Timothy Intelligent Ojuyaina, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the passage of the Nigeria Maritime University (NMU) Bill to law.
The Proprietor also praised High Chief Dr. Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo for his prioritisation of the development of creek communities with his visionary ideals, one of which brought about the birth of the NMU, Okerenkoko, with take-off campus at Kurutie community.
Chief Ojuyaina who participated alongside other traditional worshippers in the just-concluded Osoupele spiritual cleansing ceremony at Ogulagha community in Ogulagha Kingdom, also lauded the Niger Delta leader's efforts in pushing for the revival of the ancient traditions of the Ijaws, which he noted stand the people as unique.
"I want to appreciate the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, for giving assent to the NMU's Bill thereby signing it to law. It shows the Tinubu-led government is committed to the development of education in the Niger Delta region.
"I also thank our leader, Tompolo, for his love towards the development and growth of Gbaramatu and other riverine communities as evidenced in the birthing of the recently signed maritime university in the kingdom.
"Most particularly, I commend Tompolo as a lover of his people for also reviving the practices of the people and for them to know their roots. Indeed, our unique cultures and traditions are what sets us apart from others and so should be give preference," he added.
On the NMU, the Icon United Millennium School Boss stated that the signing of the maritime university into law will pave the way for the rapid development of the permanent site of the school which will attract more growth and investors to the kingdom.
He charged all well-meaning Ijaw sons and daughters to tow the path of the Niger Delta leader by committing their heart and soul to the prosperity of the Ijaw Nation rather than being selfish and greedy whenever they are opportune with power and resources to influence change.
"How I wish many of our Ijaw people will truly tow the practice of unconditional giving exhibited by Tompolo and not just claim to love him. If that is done, out communities would have been much better," he asserted.
