A renowned human and environmental rights activist, Comrade Joseph Evah, the National Coordinator of the ljaw Monitoring Group (IMG), has bagged the prestigious Ernest lkoli Personality Award of Excellence from the ljaw Publishers Forum (lPF).
Comr. Evah was presented the award by the National President of the lPF, Comr. Austin Ozobo, who was ably represented by Vice President Oyinbi Onduku, in Lagos state, on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Comr. Onduku noted that the award was in recognition of Evah's outstanding contributions to amplifying the Niger Delta quest for economic, political and environmental justice over the years.
He reiterated that Evah has done nobly well in protecting, projecting and promoting the ljaw nation through advocacy, humanitarian services among others.
"The ljaw Publishers Forum, lPF and ljaw nation are proud to have a person like you. We pray God to give you good health, strength, long life and prosperity to continue to enjoy the fruits of your hard labour and sacrifices for ljaw people in particular, and Niger Delta at large," Comr. Onduku said.
Receiving the prestigious award, Evah expressed gratitude to God and to IPF for the honour and recognition bestowed on him, stressing that the struggle for better ljaw nation cannot be undermined.
He dedicated the award to the mothers of Niger Delta for their selfless sacrifices in praying for the South-South governors to wake up from their slumber for the development of the region.
Evah used the medium to call on the governor of Bayelsa state, Senator Douye Diri, to resolve the issues with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in order to call off the ongoing strike at the Niger Delta University (NDU) Amassoma "so that our children can return back to school."
Recall that Evah had recently held an event tagged "Niger Delta Governors Spiritual Deliverance Service Day" at the IMG Office in Lagos aimed to seek God's divine guidance and wisdom for the region's governors, including Senator Duoye Diri (Bayelsa State), RT Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta State), Umo Eno (Akwa-Ibom State), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo State), Bassey Otu (Cross River State), and Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers State).
