A student leader and aspirant for the office of Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the National Association of Gbaramatu Students (NAGS), Mr. Simon Layebi, has formally declared his intention to contest in the forthcoming association's election, promising to provide effective communication, responsible leadership, and purposeful representation.

Layebi hails from Okerenkoko Federated Community and is a 300-level Computer Science student at the Benson Idahosa University (BIU), Benin City, Edo State.

He urged members of the association to support his candidacy, presenting himself as a leader committed to serving the interests of Gbaramatu students through transparency, accessibility, and active engagement.

Campaigning under the slogan, "A Voice That Listens. A Leader That Delivers," the aspirant pledged to bridge the communication gap between the leadership of the association and its members while ensuring that students' concerns receive prompt attention.

"I am aspiring to serve as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) and am committed to promoting effective communication, transparency, and unity within our community," he pledged 

Layebi further emphasized that his leadership would be driven by action rather than empty promises, adopting the campaign theme, "Let Actions Speak," describing himself as "Your Voice, Your Bridge, Your Leader."

He appealed to delegates and members of the student body to massively vote for him and support his aspiration as the Public Relations Officer

The forthcoming NAGAS elective convention is expected to usher in a new executive council that will steer the affairs of the association, with aspirants already intensifying consultations and campaigns ahead of the polls.

The Convention, which has as its theme; "Culture and Identity: Preserving the Heritage, Values, and Legacy of Our People," will hold in Kokodiagbene Community in the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom from Friday, July 24, to Sunday, July 26, 2026.
