Poised to address the pressing issue of the unemployment rate among students and graduates of higher institutions, the National Association of Delta ijaw Students, NADIS, has unveiled a One Day Entrepreneurship Summit with the theme "Unlocking The Entrepreneurial Potential in the Niger Delta" to be organised by the student body on Friday, May 2, 2025.
This is contained in a statement released and signed by the NADIS President, Comrade Aweh Johnson, and the NADIS Secretary General, Bebebimiekumor Tamarauebi, while unveiling the upcoming programme billed to hold in Ogbe-Ijoh Town, headquarters of Warri South-West Local Government Area of the State.
According to NADIS, the programme springs from the need to use entrepreneurship to address crimes, unrest, and other social vices as it is a tool that harnesses the skills of the youths for economic independence, for job and wealth creation, among other benefits.
The statement reads, "Today, the National Association of Delta ijaw Students (NADIS) wishes to unveil their one day Entrepreneurship Summit designed to address the pressing issue of the unemployment rate among our students and graduates from higher institutions.
"This has led to increased crime, restiveness, and socially delinquent behavior, ultimately devastating our economy and society at large.
"Entrepreneurship is a powerful tool for economic development, particularly within the context of local communities, providing sustainable pathways towards economic independence, job creation, and social advancement.
"This upcoming Summit offers workshops and sessions led by experienced entrepreneurs and business leaders, covering vital topics such as business planning, marketing strategies, financial management, and digital literacy for our Delta Ijaw students to acquire practical skills and transform their ideas into viable businesses, notwithstanding providing a platform for students to meet potential mentors, and investors which can lead to partnerships and support systems that are invaluable for navigating the business landscape," the student body added.
Speaking further the student body appealed to stakeholders to make attendance at the programme paramount as well as for sponsors to support the initiative.
"The need for us to attend the Entrepreneurship Summit cannot be overstated. Let us come together to unlock our entrepreneurial potential and pave the way for a more prosperous and independent future in the Niger Delta.
