Bawo Okoh, Favour Ebi, and Ogheneochuko Isaac, made the list of beneficiaries on the second edition of the Foundation's medical outreach intervention.

"It is my prayer that God bless them and provide for their needs for taking care of my child," said Mrs. Aghogho Ochuko excitedly, mother of one of the patients that was among the beneficiaries. She further disclosed that they had been in the hospital for a week interval.

Mrs. Omame Rose, Administrator, Warri Central Hospital, who coordinated the Foundation's outreach team around the hospital's premises, also commended the Raphael Biu Foundation on behalf of the patients.

"I just want to say 'Thank You So Much' for having indigent patients at heart and God will richly bless and replenish your pockets in hundred folds," she prayed.

Mr. Ukuli, speaking on the outreach on behalf of the FOUNDATION /BOT said that the tough economic situation as witnessed in the country prompted the Foundation to embark on the exercise to help ameliorate the plights of patients who are in need.

"Our visit here today is to see how we can help to cushion the effect of the economy on some indigent patients here by helping them to pay their bills. You know how difficult it is to pay bills. In the General Hospital you'll find persons of that category in almost all of the wards, if not all."

On the criteria for choosing beneficiaries, he said, "Mostly we depend on the hospital for that because they know the history of the patient. So, we get in touch with them, and we work with the information they give to us, so that we are able to make our choices."

When asked if the Foundation is also considering other areas of intervention besides health, Mr. Ukuli answered, "Yes, we are considering training and maybe skill acquisition in the future. But for now, it is health first. Health is wealth, as they say, so that's why we are focusing on health," he explained.

On the outcome of discussions with the medical director and optomologist, he noted that the Foundation, which is planning a broader intervention, will review its earliest plans and strategise on ways to reach out to more patients in need.

"We'll go back to the drawing board and look at our schedule. And then, we have planned every three months for this outreach. This is the second within the space of two months. So hopefully, we hope to embark on another one soonest. But that will be made known to the public. By then, we hope to have the chairman of BOT, Dr. Raphael Biu, in attendance."
