MARRIAGE: Amb. Powede, Family Gives Sister, Joy Ikpade to Monday Oghenebrorhie in Colourful Ceremony

It was a double celebration for the Special Assistant (S.A) to the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Amb. Uyadonghan Powede, having recently bagged the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) award, played a fatherly role as he gave out a member of his family, the bride, Miss Joy Ikpade Powede, to her heartthrob, the groom Mr Monday Akpevwe Oghenebrorhie, in a traditional marriage setting on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

The bride hails from the families of Late Capt. Piniki Powede Bide Jacob of Ebiabu Quarter in Kokodiagbene community and from Okerenkoko Federated Community, both in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West area; while the groom is from the families of Late Idiakpornal Oghenerorhie Samson in Urhuovie Quarter, Otorho, Abraka Kingdom, Ethiope East area of Delta State.

The traditional marriage ceremony which held at the residence of the S.A. at Okuokoko area of Delta State, was attended by families, friends, and well-wishers from both the bride and the groom.

Among some of the high profile guests of the Ambassador in attendance are the likes of Chief Amb. Sheriff Mulade, the Ibe-Serimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom and National Coordinator of the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), Chief George Timiyan JP, the Miyenkeremowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom; Chief Felix Eguare, the Yirindewei of Gbaramatu Kingdom; Chief Paul Ukuli, the Amadiwei of Kokodiagbene Community; Chief Matthew Nafami among other Gbaramatu chiefs.

Also in attendance are Bishop Felix Piniki, Prince Omoh, Comr. Pedro Bekenawei, chairman of Kokodiagbene community; Amb. Ojowuro City, President, Ogbinbiri Youth Federation and MD/CEO, OCI Hotels & Suite; Engr. Johnson Powede, vice chairman, PDP Ward 20, Gbaramatu Kingdom; Hon. Jimoh Keniye, Hon. Emmanuel Isede, Comr. Jackson Timiyan, Mr. Solomon Keniye, among so many too numerous to mention.

The traditional marriage ceremony featured entertainment session by both families, which was followed by the payment of the bride's price by the groom and his family members.

Highpoints of the traditional marriage include the unveiling of the beautiful bride to her husband after the payment of bridal price, the offering of special prayers on the latest couple by Amb. Uyadonghan, a group photograph session with family members with the latest couple, entertainment, among other ceremonies.

Having successfully fulfilled the requirements, the latest couple and their family members proceeded to celebrate the union in a reception party at the venue.
