LEADERSHIP: Together There Is Nothing We Cannot Achieve – Kokodiagbene Chairman Comr. Selegha

The newly inaugurated executive council of Kokodiagbene community led by Comrade Ark Selegha has re-echoed the role of collective contributions by all sons and daughters of the oil-rich community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, towards its development and growth.

Comrade Selegha made the appeal while delivering his note of appreciation at the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of the newly-elected members of the community's executive council on Monday, January 13, 2025.

Other members of the newly inaugurated executives include Paul Diwere (Vice Chairman), Gabriel Ukuli (Secretary), Engr. Johnson Powede (Public Relations Officer), Nani Mala (Financial Secretary), Maxwell Obode (Assistant Financial Secretary), John Arukarawei (Assistant Secretary), Tima Igedo (Treasurer) and Jerry Ari (Provost).

The exco also thanked, among other other internal and external stakeholders, the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, HRM Oboro Gbaraun II (JP), Aketekpe, Agadagba, and the Izon Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation, High Chief Dr. Government Ekpemupolo, for their peaceful leadership that has ushered in Infrastructural development and youth empowerment in Kokodiagbene as well as in the kingdom.

The full statement reads: 

"History has yet again been made this day (the 13th day of January 2025) with the successful inauguration of a new set of executive leadership to pilot the affairs of our dear oil-rich Kokodiagbene community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, for the next four years.

"But this would not have been possible without the prayers, counsels, support and contributions by certain key personalities which we, the inaugurated executives of Kokodiagbene community as led by my humble self, Comrade Ark Selegha, hereby acknowledge and appreciate.

"First, we greet our traditional, spiritual and royal father, His Majesty, Oboro Gbaraun II (JP), Aketekpe, Agadagba, the Pere of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, whose peaceful reign has ushered in great peace to the kingdom and for his godly wisdom that has also attracted much development. If there is no peace we would not be assembled here this day. Aketekpe, may your reign continue to be peaceful and prosperous.

"Secondly, we express our profound gratitude to our transnational leader, High Chief Dr Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo AKA Tompolo, the Izon Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation, who has been instrumental in the recent waves of developments that have flooded our dear community. You are indeed God-sent and we deeply express our gratitude, not only for the monumental projects, but also for your leadership that has ushered in peace as well as create opportunities for wealth creation, most especially in the engagement of the youths.

"Thirdly, we appreciate all of our invited guests across the political, business, traditional and social space, who made out time from their busy schedules to join us in honour to our invitation for this Inauguration. We say THANK YOU for your invaluable presence which added more colours to the ceremony.

"Fourthly, we acknowledge the chiefs and the elders of Kokodiagbene community for their wisdom, dedication and commitment to the advancement of the community, especially in ensuring a free, fair and peaceful transition process in the executive leadership organ. We thank you all once again.

"We will not forget also our dear mothers as well as the youths of Kokodiagbene community for their interest and for their peaceful participation in the election process that led to the emergence of this executive council. This is a positive development and we appreciate all of your interest to be a part of the decision making process in choosing your representatives in government. That in itself is the true beauty of democracy.

"Lastly, we appreciate the outgone Comrade Pedro Tuwayerin Bekenawei-led executive council members for their untiring efforts in the last four years to bring about a turnaround in the affairs of the community affairs. We look forward to your good counsel as leaders and solicit your support always as Kokodiagbene community belongs to all of us, and as such its progress should be the paramount interest of all.

“We also use ths medium to hereby appeal to all sons and daughters of Kokodiagbene community to join hands with the new inaugurated exco as we mount the pedestal of leadership as your representatives in government. Your contributions are needed and together there is nothing that we cannot achieve for our great Kokodiagbene community. Thank you.”
