LEADERSHIP CHANGE: Aketekpe commends Kokodiagbene for peaceful inauguration as eminent guests grace occasion

The Pere of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, HRM Oboro Gbaraun II (JP), Aketekpe, Agadagba, as represented by the Gbaramatu Kingdom Traditional Council of Chiefs led by High Chief Dr. Nelson Ogelegbanwei JP, has commended the people of Kokodiagbene community for their unity as demonstrated in the peaceful inauguration while also charging the newly inaugurated Executive Council to work in unison and to build on the achievements of their predecessors.

The inaugurated executive members are Comr. Ark Selegha (Chairman), Paul Diwere (Vice Chairman), Gabriel Ukuli (Secretary), Engr. Johnson Powede (Public Relations Officer), Nani Mala (Financial Secretary), Maxwell Obode (Assistant Financial Secretary), John Arukarawei (Assistant Secretary), Tima Igedo (Treasurer) and Jerry Ari (Provost).

The ceremony which held in the community's playground on Monday, January 13, 2025, also had in attendance some eminent guests among whom are the Senior Pastor of Foursquare Gospel Church, Ekpan District Headquarters, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Imeleye; members of the Gbaramatu Host Communities Development Trust (GHCDT) as led by Chief Joseph Wuruyai; a former commissioner representing Ijaw ethnic nationality in the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Dr. Paul Bebenimibo.

Others are the Chairman of Oporoza community and chairman of all chairmen, Hon. Godwin Febaide popularly known as Agbadu; the chairman of Benikrukru community, Comrade Joel Tonjoh; the chairman of Kenyagbene community, Dcn. Joseph Tonlagha; a former chairman of Okerenkoko community, Hon. Akpodikumor Oturubo, among other representatives from neighbouring communities in the kingdom.

On the part of the host, elders and chiefs of Kokodiagbene; the association of Kokodiagbene urban and Kokodiagbene community-based women as well as the youth body (Kokodiagbene Youth Development Movement) were on ground.

The historic ceremony featured cultural dance among other entertainments with music supplied by Prince Isaba Abraham and his Izon highlife band.

Speaking later to the press, Comrade Ark Selegha appreciated the high profile guests in attendance as well as the elders, chiefs, women and youths of the community for their peaceful conduct and support. 

He assured stakeholders that his administration will run an open government and will continue to build on the achievements of his predecessors while also appealing to stakeholders in the community to join hands with the exco to contribute to the community development.
