LEADERSHIP: Azama community suspends chairman, appoints vice in acting capacity

The people of Azama Federated Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, has suspended its executive chairman, Comrade Arthur Gbenekama Mulade, for a period of one year, beginning from Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
The notice of suspension was signed by Elder (Engr.) Godspine Boi-Ebikeme for Aruku Idumu, Elder Bakumor Joseph for Etibo Idumu, Elder Godwin Akori for Ekpe Idumu, Chief Amami William, the Amadiwei of Azama community; Mr. Innocent Idabor, Youth President; and Mrs. Cecilia Amami, Women Leader.
The above signed personalities also mandated the Vice Chairman of the community, Mr. Layefa Ikpidi, to act in the capacity of chairman with effect from Thursday, April 10, 2025.

Giving reasons for the suspension, the leaders in the letter, stated that their decision was based on the refusal of the suspended chairman to respond to a Query Letter dated April 7, 2025, as well as his failing to appear before the community leaders when summoned.
The Query Letter, also signed by the above leaders, had copies made to the senior chiefs namely High Chief Godspower Gbenekama, High Chief Bosin Ebikeme, and High Chief Matthew Pudie.

The leaders further directed the suspended chairman to "bring back all the community belongings (documents, equipment, funds etc.) that are with you on or before the end of April 2025, else you will face the law."
The suspension letter also copied the Gbaramatu Kingdom Traditional Council, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, GeeCom, Nigeria Gas Company (NGC), the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) among other organisation.
