LATE CHINA NEBRAGHO PORI: Final Goodbye as Families, Sympathisers Pay Last Respect

It was a night of celebration as the families of late Mama China Nebragho Pori, accompanied by friends and other sympathisers, paid their last respect to their beloved departed mother and grand mother with a Christian funeral service and a social wake-keep ceremony on Friday, November 22, 2024.

The funeral service which held at Kurutie Federated Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, featured Bible readings, presentation of biography, testimonials, and a sermon among others.

A night of wake keep ceremony followed after the funeral service as the children and other sympathisers paid their last respect to the deceased with dances to music supplied by Prince Smally Okpe.

According to her brief biography, the late Mama China Nebragho Pori was born in the year 1950 at Oporoza community, the headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom, in present day Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, into the family of Late Pa. Nebragho Pori in Jeijei/Wulu Quarters in Kurutie Federated Community, and Late Mama Owojaifor Yin in Agbo Quarters in Kunukunuma Federated Community.

She grew up in Kunukunuma where she moved to Ebi-Igho Zion. Growing up, she was hardworking, fearful, obedient and very friendly being. She got married in 1969 and gave birth to five children namely Preye Azi, Ambrose Timinimi, Alex Timinimi, Isaac Abraham, Demebi Timinimi, and Doutimiwei Roman.

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren namely Powell Ayebarakarinade Oroyeipade Timinimi, Howell Tamaramiesinde Oroyeipade Timinimi, Richard Oroyeipade Timinimi, Maxwell Oroyeipade Timinimi, Keisha Tamaralakemefa Oroyeipade Timinimi, Duke Tamaramiebi Oroyeipade Timinimi, Emmanuel Azi, Emmanuella Azi, Excellent Tamarakuro Oroyeipade Timinimi, Israel Azi, Nathan Oroyeipade Timinimi, Darius Ayebayirindewei Oroyeipade Timinimi, Ruth Azi Nathania Oroyeipade Timinimi, and Kayla Oyinkuro Abiodun.

She was a dedicated member of the Holy Zion Eternal Church of Christ where she worshipped. She was into the fishing occupation before taking ill, forcing her to take residence with her children and being under their care and wives as well as grandchildren. 

She was jovial with everyone, both young and old. She often travelled to Warri to visit her children and grandchildren as well as for medical checkup. Sadly, on September 25, 2023, she passed away at about 7:30pm.

In the early hours of Saturday (November 23), the remains of the late Mama Pori, after a brief service, was committed to Mother Earth to rest until the day of Resurrection.

"She was indeed a caring and loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother. She will forever remain in our hearts," the children wrote.
