LATE CHIEF GOVERNOR: Gbaramatu Traditional Council Condole Family of Pere Gbolu

Following the demise of the popular Chief Jonathan Governor, also known as JoGof, the Gbaramatu Traditional Council of Chiefs in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, has wholeheartedly sympathized with the family members of the late Pere Gbolu of Gbaramatu Kingdom.

The Council conveyed their condolence on Thursday, October 19, 2023, when they paid a visit to the bereaved family at the residence of the deceased in New Layout, Warri, Delta State.

Among the Gbaramatu Traditional Council of Chiefs include Chief Godspower Gbenekama (JP), Chief Nelson Ogelegbanwei (JP), Chief Julius Tonfawei, Chief George Timiyan, Chief Reuben Tonjoh, Chief Felix Eguare, Chief Joseph Wuruyai, Chief Paris Imoun, Chief Tuesday Pori.

Others are Chief Vero Emmanuel (JP), Chief Ghana Pondi, Chief Mercy Gbenekama, Chief Mariam Anomuogharan, Chief Dolphin Bebenimibo, Chief Victoria Ukulor, Chief Ebi Tebela, Chief Victoria Eguare, among others.

Speaking on behalf of the Council to the family members, the Fiyewei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Chief Gbenekama encouraged the family of the late Pere Gbolu to be strong and to take solace in the fact that the late Chief Governor built a good legacy during his lifetime, having impacted the lives of many persons.

The Fiyewei while stressing the honourably place occupied by the late Pere Gbolu also reminded them that the deceased as a member of the Council deserves an honourable burial and that such is not left alone for the family or the Okerenkoko community where the deceased hails from.

Mr. Godbless Governor, the eldest son of the late Chief Governor, in his response, thanked the Gbaramatu Traditional Council of Chiefs for honouring his father's memories with such visit, and that the counsels offered are well received by the family members.

In a brief chat with PENGlobal Community, Chief George Timiyan, who is the Miyenkeremowei of the kingdom, described the late Chief Governor "as a good man who was peaceful and carried everybody along".

He also cautioned the family, particularly the children, that despite the devastating loss, they should "unite as one and not allow any division in their midst" in order to maintain the good name of their father.

It would be recalled that the late Chief Governor, the Pere Gbolu of Gbaramatu Kingdom, passed away on Wednesday, 11 October 2023. Plans are still being made to give the late prominent chief a befitting burial.
