KYDC 2026: Kunukunuma Youth Election to hold May 2 as Eleco issues new timetable
The Comrade Onimide Aruwei Ituebi-led Kunukunuma Youth Development Council Electoral Committee (KYDC Eleco) in Kunukunuma Federated Community, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West council area of Delta State, has announced Saturday, May 2, 2026, as the new date to conduct elections for candidates that are vying to occupy leadership positions in the youth body.
The change of date for the KYDC election is contained in a statement released and signed by the KYDC Eleco Chairman, Comrade Ituebi, and the Eleco Secretary, Mr. Kelvin Ikpeji, on Monday, March 23, 2026.
According to the KYDC Eleco, the change of election date from Saturday, April 25, 2026, to Saturday, May 2, 2026, is "in line with the appeal from the KYDC youths" for more time to prepare ahead for the election.
Meanwhile, the various positions contested for in the KYDC are President, Vice President, Secretary General, Public Relations Officer (P.R.O), Treasurer, Assistant Secretary, Financial Secretary, Director of Social, and Provost.
According to the KYDC ELECO, for aspirants to be qualified to partake in the election they must be an indigene of Kunukunuma Federated Community, and must be 18 years old or above.
In addition, those aspiring for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary General, Public Relations Officer (P.R.O) must possess "a minimum of secondary school leaving certificate (WAEC or NECO)" the statement added.
From the new arrangement of the electoral process, sales of nomination forms and return of forms begin March 5, 2026, and close March 31, 2026, from 12noon to 2pm daily; while screening of candidates begins April 3 to 4, 2026, from 11am to 4pm daily, in the community town hall.
Campaign commences April 13 to 20, 2026, from 8am to 6pm daily, and submission of delegates list starts from April 21 to 22, 2026, 12:30pm to 2:30pm daily in the community town hall.
The Accreditation of delegates (from 9am to 11am), casting of votes (from 12noon to 4pm), collation of election results (from 5pm to 5:55pm) and declaration/announcement of election results at 6pm comes up in the community town hall on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
