IYC: Western Zone's Information Officer to host Digital Skills bootcamp
The Information Officer of the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Western Zone, Comrade Tare Magbei, is set to host a two-day Digital Skills bootcamp aimed at equipping Ijaw youths with practical media and technology competencies to strengthen youth participation in advocacy, storytelling, and community engagement across the Western Zone which comprises Delta, Edo, and Ondo states.
According to the Comr. Magbei, the programme tagged 'Media Management, Content Creation, and AI Prompting Bootcamp', will hold in Joemarine Institute of Nautical Studies, Plot 10, 39th Street, DDPA Housing Estate, Effurun, Delta State, from February 13 to 14, 2026.
Keynote speakers at the programme are Deborah Onajeta, a Digital Marketing Strategist, and Derivk Oyabotu, a Cinematographer.
A total of 50 participants will be trained in hands-on media and digital skills, with additional exposure to income-earning opportunities in the media and creative sectors.
Participants will be drawn from all Information Officers within the IYC Western Zone as well as selected youths from the 24 clans that make up the zone.
The initiative, spearheaded by the IYC Western Zone Information Officer, Comrade Magbei, reflects a strong commitment to youth empowerment through capacity building and the adoption of relevant digital tools in today’s fast-evolving media space.
The bootcamp is perceived as a timely intervention that will not only strengthen advocacy efforts but also improve employability and digital relevance among Ijaw youths.
