IPF VISIT: Takeme lists achievements as Ijaw media executives tour Burutu on working visit

The Executive Chairman of Burutu Local Government Council in Delta State, Dr. Julius Takeme (JP), has listed some of his administration's visible infrastructural achievements in the Council area since assumption of office in less than a year.

The Council Boss made the disclosure when members of the Ijaw Publishers' Forum, IPF, as led by its National President, Comrade Ozobo Austin, paid a courtesy call at the Local Government Secretariat on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

The former Delta South Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who took the IPF members on tour the Council area, revealed that Burutu local government area, under his leadership, has indeed witnessed visible infrastructural changes.

Addressing the IPF entourage, Takeme, who reaffirmed his resolve to implement measures that will uplift the status of Burutu, said the developmental efforts of his administration is hinged on the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

He said, "Armed with the MORE Agenda by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, this administration has implemented several visible infrastructural developments in Burutu.

"That mandate has allowed us to give priority to giving Burutu the much needed face-lift under my watch. That resolve has pushed us to construct a combined 1 kilometre length of internal road network," Takeme revealed.

Dr. Takeme, who is the Olotu of Obotebe Kingdom, listed his government investments in public health, environmental cleanliness, housing, and in the general welfare of civil servants, among whom include senior officers of the Council who had battled great discomfort in the discharge of their duties.

He further listed such intervention projects such as the renovation of health centres in Labulouseigha and Ofougbene communities, the construction and renovation of senior housing units for senior employees of the Council, and the construction of resident quarters for the President of the Customary Court.

Other achievements include the construction of a three modern public toilets, distribution of drugs for health centres, and the employment of over 2,000 women for the maintenance of cleanliness in the local government headquarters.

The Burutu Council Bods also revealed that many other projects are on the pipeline awaiting official commissioning ahead of the celebration of his one year anniversary in office.

In response, the IPF, while applauding Takeme's commitment to uplifting Burutu, explained that the tour forms part of the body's mandate to checkmate governance and development across Ijaw nation.

The Ijaw Publishers encouraged Dr. Takeme to do more and to maintain the momentum as well as to deliver more dividends of governance to the people of Burutu.
