IPF: Oromoni Pledges Support as Numupere II, Alagoa Set to Storm Warri for Ijaw Publishers Forum Inauguration

Ijaw Nation is set to witness a new dawn in the media industry as the Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Chief Sylvester Oromoni; a renowned Niger Delta Environmental Activist at the Era Niger Delta Resource Centre, Morris Alagoa, and the Numu Pere II of Ijaw Nation, King Pereama Freetown, are set to join other Ijaw noble sons and daughters for the inauguration ceremony of the Ijaw Publishers Forum (IPF) on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

The apex Ijaw media body led by its president Comr. Ozobo Austin made the latest development known after meeting with Oromoni in Warri, and with King Pereama and Alagoa in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, on Sunday, February 25.

Other members of the IPF delegation include Mr Oyinbi Onduku, vice President-elect; Mr. Magbei Tare, Secretary-elect; Hon. Tamsokunbiri MMD, member; Prince Peres Clinton, member; and Mr Ekpegha Preye, member.

On behalf of the Forum, Comr. Ozobo appreciated the Special Adviser, Oromoni, for his unwavering support for Ijaw people during the Warri Crisis and for also making Ijaw proud in the private and political sector.

In their briefing in Yenagoa, the IPF delegation also used the opportunity to commend the distinguished Ijaw leaders Alagoa and King Pereama for their timeless contributions to the Ijaw Nation and the Niger Delta, adding that it is a rear privilege for IPF to have their esteemed presence in its forthcoming Inauguration.

In his response, Oromoni commended the apex body, and also advised them to report objectively as well as conduct themselves in a manner that would promote the Ijaw Nation and the Niger Delta region, he promised to honour the invitation.

On their parts, while King Pereama Freetown commended the intellectuals for coming together to change the narrative of how the Ijaws and the Niger Delta story is to be told, Alagoa expressed joy over the the visit and declared that his organization, the Era Niger Delta Resource Centre, will work with the IPF in furthering the cause of the Ijaw people and the Niger Delta region.

Both also promised to be in attendance personally while they also advised that the body go about their business in a professional manner free from subjectivity and bias.
