IPF: Ijaw Publishers Forum Timely — Hon. Angele, Pledges Support

The Commissioner for Housing in Delta State, Hon. Angele Godknows, has said that the emergence of the Ijaw Publishers Forum (IPF) that was established as a unified body for the propagation of the Ijaw story, is timely.

The Commissioner made the remark in his office at the State Secretariat in Asaba when he played host to members of the IPF during a courtesy call on Thursday, March 21, 2024.

According to Hon. Angele, who is the immediate past and two-time Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area, the essence IPF's existence cannot be over-emphasized and that the Forum was formed at the right time for the right purpose. 

The Commissioner further posited that the IPF's mandate is in tandem with the More Agenda of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori's administration, and as such, will enjoy the necessary support to thrive.

"This is a very good means of protecting the Ijaw Nation. If you're not creative, hardly will you come up with this idea. Media is very powerful. You're starting in a very good note. We have been waiting for this group.

"My ministry under the More Agenda of His Excellency is to give meaningful development to everybody, not just one tribe in Delta. That leads to opportunities for all," he assured.

Speaking further, Hon. Angele who pledge his support for the IPF counseled members of the Forum to maintain professionalism and neutrality at all times and don't allow people with bad intentions to use you for selfish gains. 

"Don't be sentimental. You are a platform to tell the Ijaw story, but be very neutral and face the facts. Don't takes sides with anybody because you're the umbrella of the Ijaw Nation," he counseled.

Earlier, the IPF President, Comr. Ozobo Austin, said the visit was to intimate the Commissioner of the group's aims and objectives and to seek results-oriented collaboration with the Delta State Government as the Forum was in need of support from key stakeholders across Ijaw Nation to achieve its objectives.

Other members of the IPF delegation include, Oyinbi Onduku, Vice President; Tare Magbei, Secretary; Perez Bibaikefie, Assistant Secretary; Migor Friday, Treasurer; Mike Ugedi, Financial Secretary; Francis Abai, Chief Researcher, and Tamaraupreye Ekpegha, member.
