INAUGURATION: We will not accept marginalization of our members any more — Evene, GKHDPOA Chairman
The executive leadership of the association of Gbaramatu Kingdom Heavy Duties Plant Operators Association (GKHDPOA) in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West council area of Delta State, has vowed to protect its members from marginalization by both international and indigenous contractors in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
This is according to the Chairman of the Association, Snr. Comr. Happy Evene, whose executives were inaugurated in Bimos Hotel, 528 Airport Road, Warri, Delta State, on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Other members of the GKHDPOA, who were inaugurated alongside the Chairman are: Comr. Christopher Anemibra Lemon (Vice Chairman), Comr. Ebebitimi Ukuli (Secretary), Comr. Eniye Selegha (Public Relations Officer), Comr. Wilky Pere Mike (Financial Secretary), and Hon. Mieyenteigha Destiny (Treasurer).
The inauguration ceremony had in attendance a former youth president of the Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC) and currently a Coordinator of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), Hon. Shadrach Onitsha Ebikeme, who chaired the ceremony.
The outgone executive members of the Association are Hon. Oliver Mala, Mr. Jeremiah Mulade, Mr. Isaac Brubor, Pst. Marvel Zibimoghan, and Mr. Amos Erike.
Others in attendance are Comrade Zikurebai Oyinkuro Wazo, Chairman, Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Gbaramatu Kingdom chapter, Comr. Godswill Wuruyai, Personal Assistant to the Managing Director of TSSNL.
The Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Ebikeme, charged the inaugurated exco to work together as a team and conduct themselves in a professional manner especially when dealing with companies and contractors in the kingdom.
He also called on both the foreign and indigenous companies as well as contractors to collaborate and partner with the Association as part of keeping with the Local Content act for the benefit of both parties while contributing to the growth of the economy and skills development.
Also lending his voice, Comr. Wuruyai charged the Snr. Comr. Evene-led exco to act professionally on the job, to engage the unskilled that are interested in the trade for upgrading through training, and promised to support the Association in terms of aiding meetings with the IOCs and indigenous contractors to work together.
In his acceptance speech, Snr. Comr. Evene, on behalf of other exco members, thanked guests who honoured their invitation and supported with the inauguration, declared that the era of marginalization of heavy duty operators in the Gbaramatu Kingdom are over.
"We appreciate the people that find time to grace our inauguration ceremony, some came from far away. I promise to take the union to the next level. I and my fellow exco will try as much as possible to discharge the responsibility that was given to us.
"We will not accept any marginalization of our professional operators anymore. We have been marginalized for some time, in terms of employment, pay from the IOCs and our indigenous contractors, even the non-indigenous contractors. We will not accept it," the Chairman added.
