INAUGURATION: Ijaw Women Rights' Protection Forum swears in new exco, sets agenda
The Ijaw Women Rights' Protection Forum (IWRPF) has successfully inaugurated its executive council led by Comrade Amogha Hilda as President to pilot the affairs of the Forum in advocating for, and in protecting women's rights in the Ijaw Nation.
The inauguration ceremony held at the TM Palace Hotel along Airport Road in Effurun, Delta State, and was witnessed by special dignitaries including Kofee Ebisine Amasuomo (Father of the Day), Ms. Ebimoboere Okoh (Mother of the Day), Comrade Ozobo Austin and Mr. Abai Francis, among other guests in attendance on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
The IWRPF exco were sworn into office by an All Progressives' Congress (APC) Youth Leader in Delta State and chairman of the occasion, Hon. Napoleon Kenerekedi, who called on all stakeholders to support the Forum to achieve its set goals.
Other IWRPF executive members that were inaugurated alongside its President are Comrades Mariam Emomotimi (Vice President), Juliet idogho (Treasurer), Sophia Ebikahky (Assistant Secretary), Abalaere Ebikahky (Welfare Officer), Anty Ande Ebierebo (Ex- Officio), Loveth Atubi (Woman Leader), Mary Atangbala (Provost/Chief Security Officer), Ebika Tonfa Oganwu (Spokesperson), Ebi Ipopo (Zone Chairman).
Delivering her acceptance speech, the IWRPF President, Comrade Amogha, hinted on the vision of the Forum and its objectives to safeguarding vulnerable and voiceless Ijaw women as well as the girl child in society from abuse.
She said, "The Ijaw Women Rights' Protection Forum, established on 5th September 2025, was formed with a clear and urgent mandate to defend the rights and dignity of women and girls, to confront abuse, discrimination, injustice, and silence in all its forms. and to restore hope where it has been lost.
"We exist to protect the vulnerable, empower the voiceless and demand justice where it has long been denied. For too long women and girls have endured silence in the face of suffering, carrying burdens they should never have carried, living through injustice they should never have experienced."
The Forum promised to stand up for the women and girl child in the Ijaw Nation, vowing that no one will be left behind in its collective advocacy.
"Today, we declare without hesitation, enough is enough! No woman will be ignored, no girl will be violated, no voice will be silent again without response. From this day forward. We rise not in fear, but in strength; we rise to speak, to defend and to ask with courage and unity.
"This Forum is not built on comfort; it is built on sacrifice, courage and conviction. We are a voice for the voiceless, a shield for the vulnerable, and a relentless force for justice, equality and transformation in our communities," the Forum stressed.
The Forum thanked dignitaries in attendance at the inauguration, noting that "your support strengthen our mission and remind us that this struggle is shared together; we carry a responsibility greater than ourselves to build a future where every woman and girl lives in safety, dignity, and equal opportunities."
Highpoint of the occasion was financial donation of guests in support of the vision of the IWRPF and offer of counsels from stakeholders to the newly inaugurated exco, who were charged among others to function in unity.
