The Ijaw National Congress (INC) Western Zone has commended the Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for the historic presentation of Staff of Office to two Ijaw Clan Kings / Traditional Rulers in the Odigbo Local Government Area of the State.

In a message of congratulations signed by INC Chairman, Western Zone, Barr Priye Noel Kuete LL.M, the body congratulated the Agadagba of Tubutoru and that of Ebijaw Kingdom, and stressed that the historic event will foster peace and unity among the people.

"The INC Chairman specifically congratulates His Royal Majesty, the Agadagba of Tubutoru Ijaw Kingdom and the traditional ruler of Ebijaw Kingdom on their well-deserved recognition by the Ondo State Government.

"This noble and commendable action by the Governor has given a renewed sense of belonging to the ancient Ijaw kingdoms that have long existed in the riverine areas of Ondo State.

"It also serves to further strengthen and cement the cordial relationship between the Ijaw people and their Yoruba brothers and sisters in the state," the INC said.

The Ijaw national body appealed to the Ondo State governor to extend the same gesture received by the two Ijaw kingdoms to others yet to receive any official recognition by the government.

"The INC Chairman, through this medium, respectfully appeals to His Excellency to use his good office to ensure that more Ijaw clans in Ondo State receive due recognition through the issuance of Staff of Office in the interest of fairness, inclusiveness and peaceful coexistence."
