IJAW MEDIA CONFERENCE: IPF receives boost as Alabrah, Cocodia pledges support
The Chief Press Secretary to the Government of Bayelsa State, Mr Dan Alabrah, and the Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Governor, High Chief Collins Cocodia, have pledged their support for the forthcoming maiden edition of the Ijaw Media Conference that is slated for Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
This pledge was made during an official visit by the Ijaw Publishers' Forum (IPF) as part of its ongoing crucial engagement with stakeholders, aimed at ensuring the success of the conference at the Banquet Hall in Government House, Bayelsa State.
The IPF delegation, led by its President, Comrade Ozobo Austin, during the visits discussed vital aspects of the conference, including logistics, security, and content.
The Chief Press Secretary, representing the Governor's Office, assured the IPF of the state government's commitment to develop Bayelsa State and as well as supporting the event.
He noted that the conference is particularly significant, given Bayelsa State as a spotlight for political and economic discourse, abd that the IPF's efforts align with the state's vision for progress and unity.
On his part, High Chief Cocodia, who doubles as the Traditional Prime Minister of Kabowei Kingdom in Bomadi council area of Delta State, commended the IPF's resilience in telling the Ijaw story in a most acceptable manner.
Speaking further, he said that the existence of a body to direct and coordinate Ijaw media practitioners to foster more significant Ijaw presence in the media industry is most commendable, while he pledged his support and participation in the groundbreaking event.
The Ijaw Media Conference which has as its theme, "Advancing the Quest for Economic/Political Freedom in a Siege Nation," promise to be a groundbreaking event, fostering economic discourse and empowering media professionals.
The IPF had been actively engaging with key stakeholders, including traditional rulers and government officials, to mobilize support and expertise ahead of the conference.
With the support of the Bayelsa State Government and other key partners, the event is poised to make a lasting impact on the Ijaw Nation and beyond.
