updated 13 Nov, 2024

The Commissioner of Youth, Bayelsa State, Hon. Alfred Kemepado, has pledged his support for the forthcoming Ijaw Media Conference that is organised by the Ijaw Publishers' Forum (IPF) in Yenagoa, the state capital.

Hon. Kemepado made the pledge when the Commissioner played host to the Central Working Committee of the IPF on a courtesy visit at his office on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

The commissioner applauded the objectives behind the establishment of the IPF, citing that Ijaws will write their story better than any outside story teller.

He further stated that any initiative that tends to promote Ijaw Nation would receive support from critical stakeholders and leaders of the state.

The commissioner promised robust collaborative efforts in strengthening Ijaw development and the empowerment of Ijaw indigenous media, while he pledged his support and participation in the groundbreaking event.

During the visit, the IPF delegation also congratulated the youth commissioner on his well deserved appointment.

The maiden media conference is scheduled to hold on December 11, 2024, in Bayelsa State, with theme, ‘Advancing the Quest for Economic / Political Freedom in a Siege Nation’.

The media conference is aimed at bringing together leaders and stakeholders to explore innovative solutions for the Ijaw Nation and Niger Delta's economic growth. The event also promises to foster economic discourse.

The visit, which is part of the critical stakeholders engagement of the IPF ahead of the conference, is another boost to the Forum.

The IPF delegation was led by its Central Working Committee Chairman, Comr. Ozobo Austin; Mr Sunday Ayemofaye, CEO, Ogulagha Vanguard (Committee Secretary); MMD Tamsokunbiri, CEO of Kpakam TV and Mr Benjamin Tamaradoubra, CEO, Ijaw Heritage TV.
