ICON MILLENNIUM SCHOOL: Proprietor appeals to Tantita, PAP for Partnership | Announces Admission
As school resumes across Delta State, the Proprietor of Icon United Millennium School at Orhuwhorun Road in the Udu council area, Chief Timothy Ojuyaina, has appealed to well-meaning Deltans, particularly the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, TSSNL, High Chief Engr. Kestin Pondi, and the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, High Chief Dr. Dennis Otuaro, for partnership to enable it overcome learning challenges and to prevent its gains in the educational sector from been wiped out by the hash realities of the present economy.
Chief Ojuyaina, who made the call over the weekend, also announce admissions into its nursery, primary, and secondary classes in the Icon United Millennium School with a 15 percent discount to encourage parents to afford quality education for their wards.
Speaking on the pivotal challenges, the Proprietor disclosed the school's readiness to host the primary, junior and secondary school examinations with the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, by undertaking the ongoing registration process with the examinations body to prevent loss of its students annually.
He revealed that while the registration process with WAEC is already in the advance stage, tbe school is however facing constraints of finance, which if gone unattended to might result to it losing the registration privileges, amounting to a loss of committed funds.
In his words, "Each year we lose students who are writing their Primary 6, JS 3 and SS 3 examinations. We decided to apply for WAEC center so that we retain these students in the school. And so far we have put almost everything that will make WAEC to approve the school as a center. The only things left are the establishment of som facilities like laboratory, computers, among others," he said.
The Proprietor therefore made a plea to the Tantita MD and PAP Administrator, who he described as "icons of education" to come to the rescue of the Icon United Millennium School's WAEC registration among other challenges.
"I am appealing to my Ijaw brothers, High Chief Engr. Kestin Pondi of Tantita and Dr. Dennis Otuaro of the Presidential Amnesty Office, who are icons of education, to intervene by partnering with the school to help sort out the challenges. While it is not their obligation, we are however appealing for their support for the sake of our people and other Deltans who are schooling here.
"Education, as we know it, is a lifetime and best legacy worth bequeathing to the young ones. When we educate the young ones we are not only building in them knowledge, but we are equipping them for tomorrow to continue societal development and growth," he added.
The Proprietor also urged parents living within the Udu area to not miss the opportunity to register their children in its ongoing admission offer of discount to help reduce the burdens on parents caused by the hike in fuel price that has led to the astronomical rise in transport flares and food commodities.
