IAWPA: Hon. Powede Uyadonghan Bags International Peace Award
The Special Assistant on Special Duties to the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Hon. Powede Uyadonghan, has bagged the International Peace Advocates Award at the 2024 Investiture Ceremony of International Peace Advocates.
The ambassadorial award was presented to the S.A. on Special Duties by the International Association of World Peace Advocates, IAWPA, a world class organisation with the United Nations, at an event that held at the Jubilee Hotels on Friday, August 30, 2024.
The ceremony, which has as its theme: 'International Peace Advocates: Promoters of Peace, Security and Development', was chaired by the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
The IAWPA formed on 30 January 2014, is an International Civil Society Organisation operating as a non-profit making entity with a global mandate to promote peace and appoints Credible Personalities whose lifestyles are anchored in promoting Peace as Eminent Peace Ambassadors across the 193 member states of the United Nations.
Following the recommendation by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social (ECOSOC) Affairs to United Nations Economic and Social Council the Council on the 12th of June 2019 after considering our activities on Sustainable Development granted Special Consultative Status to the International Association of World Peace Advocates.
The status has since then afforded the organization the opportunity to partner and collaborate with all United Nations Agencies, Funds, and Programmes to better the workings of the United Nations anywhere in the world for peace and sustainable development. In addition to the ECOSOC Status, IAWPA is also an active Participant of the United Nations Global Compact on Active Participant ID-Status 30511.
The IAWPA is guided by a mission to ensure that peace strives in all sectors of human endeavors for social-economic development, investment and provision of assistance to internally displaced persons and physically challenged people in the society, while its vision is to be the best in promoting the universal principle of United Nations Global Peace Mission at the International, Regional, National and grassroots levels.
Its international Executive Council Members are led by His Eminence, Amb. Per Stafsen (World Peace President Denmark), His Eminence, Prof. Amb. Chidi Ehiriodo (International Director, IAWPA) among others.
Some IAWPA (UN) Eminent Peace Ambassadors that has been awarded include: George Weah, former president of Liberia; Hope Uzodinma, governor of Imo State; Bishop Samuel Ben Owusu, Mike Ozekhome, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele, Amb. Stephanie Nnadi (CEO/Founder of One Percent International), Juwon Lawal Razaq (founder of Africent Group), His Eminence, King (Dr.) I. U. Otuo Ogbalakon IX of Unyeada Kingdom, David Evans-Uhegbu (founder of Jungle Entertainment Ventures), Amb.(Dr.) Jeremiah Emmanuel Adeleko, Dr Richard Godwin Magenge, Amb.
