HUMANITARIAN: Master Generous Foundation Shows Love to Nigerians in Valentine Giveaway

updated 17 Feb, 2025

In this tough economic times where most Nigerians are battling with the high cost of living that poses a threat to their survival, some individuals and organisations are bringing hope to the less privilege or the poor in society by rising to their needs. And one of such organisation is the Master Generous Foundation (MGF), a nongovernmental organisation that is running with the motto "Together, changing one life at a time, for a better world".

The team of the MGF, dressed in white T-sweat shirts and blue jeans with face cap to match, loaded up cartons of Indomie, King's groundnut oil, small bags of rice, drinks among other food items as well as school bags and cash stashed in branded envelopes. They were poised to reflect the purpose of the Valentine's Day celebration on Friday, February 14, 2025, as they embarked on the giveaway programme in their bid to practically demonstrate and spread love.

Converging at the popular PTI Junction in Effurun, Delta State, a busy location for commuters, transporters and petty traders, the MGF executed its mission by reaching out to pedestrians, motorists, hawkers (traders), even the handicapped among others.

To add some fun in its bid to entertain and to bring humour, the MGF embarked on a spin game where voluntary participants tried out their luck and in the process winning assorted food items and cash gifts.

The MGF empowered seven women with N100,000k cash each and N50,000k to six men in cash each. The foundation also gave out money to bikers and to small business owners, as well as hand out school bags and toys to kids.

The reactions from beneficiaries of the Valentine giveaway was in different proportions. To some, the MGF was a life saver for the day. On leaving their homes in the morning to eke out a living, a tough job for some of them, they had no inkling that fortune would smile on them. Some of the beneficiaries could not hold back tears in joy; some demonstrated their happiness by rolling on the floor, hugging MGF staff emotionally and wailing on top their voices. It was such a touching moment.

A little act of love can go a long way to transform a life and create a positive chain reaction. And that was what happened on the 2025 edition of Valentine's Day at the PTI junction and other cities across Abuja and Lagos, where the impact of the MGF was undeniable. The MGF also demonstrates the fact that we all need one another and we all have a positive role to play to make the world a more better place.

What also transpired on that Valentine's Day reveals that a lot of Nigerians are suffering and that the gap between the rich and the poor is getting wider by the day, prompting a call on the government of the day to project economic policies that will deflate hardship and to other well-to-do individuals and charitable organisations to borrow leaf from the MGF by rising to the needs of fellow citizens in charity.
