HUMANITARIAN: International Inner Wheel honours Timiyan with Award of Excellence

The International Inner Wheel (IIW) District 916 in Effurun, Delta State, has honoured Chief Timiyan George (JP), the Chief Executive Officer of GEOTimitek Nigeria Limited, with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his “patriotism and contributions toward community development and service to humanity”.

The Award was presented to the recipient in his office in Effurun by the Reverend (Dr.) Mrs. Ejaromedoghene Deborah, President of the Effurun GRA Club, on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

Speaking on the award presentation, Revd. Deborah on behalf of the Inner Wheel appreciated the recipient for his humanitarian efforts encompassing his support to the less privilege, women and youths.

"We came in to really appreciate our Double Chief Timiyan for the humanitarian work he has been doing. He's very good at community development, empowering people.

"So, we the Inner Wheel women deem it fit to come over this morning to give him a special award for all he has been doing. And by the grace of God, we also pray that God will continue to increase him, strengthen him, and will give him longevity so that as he does this work, he will enjoy the benefit of his labour," she prayed.

Also speaking on the occasion, Evangelist Mrs. Helen Lelekumo, the immediate-past District Chairman of District 916 (2024–2025) charged the recipient to continue in his support of the downtrodden, and particularly women, in the community.

Responding, Chief Timiyan, who doubles as the Miyenkeremowei of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom and the Mein Ibe-Disemowei of Ogulagha Kingdom, thanked the IIW for the honour, which will inspire in him the zeal to do more.

The Opinion Leader of Kokodiagbene community who pledged to support the IIW in its programmes, urged its members to keep on doing the good works they are known for in availing the less privilege with opportunities.

The International Inner Wheel is the world's largest women's voluntary service organization promoting friendship, personal service, and international understanding through clubs in over 100 countries, uniting women in community support, fundraising, and global humanitarian efforts, founded in 1924 by Margarette Golding. 

The IIW has six districts in Nigeria: Districts 910, 911, 912, 913, 914, and 916, organised into local clubs, and serving various regions with focus on community service, friendship, and empowering women through vocational training and health initiatives.
