A native of Kokodiagbene community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, Comr. Benjamin Idina Gelemo, has offered his appreciation to the leaders, women and youths of the community for rising up to his rescue over a recent health challenge.

Comr. Gelemo, who revealed that he had been battling a skin-related health issue for some years now, said he received the biggest surprised gift of love in action from fellow community members on his July 13th birthday, which was marked this year (2024) in a mood of sober reflection rather than celebration.

According to him, he had never received such a huge support before in his life, a kindness he described as a "charitable support" and one that shows that people are beginning to awaken to the fact that those alive and are facing challenges are as important as the love shown to those who are no more.

His message reads, "I, Comrade Benjamin Idina Gelemo, offer my heartfelt appreciation to all sons and daughters of kokodiagbene community for their voluntary support towards my health challenge.

"I have searched but could not find any other words than THANK YOU for your charitable support in my trying times that was underscored my skin health issue, notably the attention that was given me on my birthday.

“Rather than celebrate, I was depressed and was in a mood of gloominess. But to my surprise, your positive responses rejuvenated my condition; it was like shining a bright light into a room of darkness. Your kind act surely enlivened my soul as I realised I was not alone as people now seem to appreciate the living and not only the dead,” he confessed.

The Kokodiagbene youth revealed that he had since sought medical attention and is responding very well to treatment as well as being informed by doctors that his condition is not one that is peculiar to him alone but that required proper dosage of medicines to alleviate the health challenge.

"I am currently undergoing treatment and the doctor has given me assurance that what I am undergoing is not something that is happening to me alone but is medically recognised all over the world, except that the effect in my case is more rampant.

"None of these would've happened if not for your massive show of love as expressed in your contributions to enabling me to seek proper attention.

"May God bless you all abundantly for standing by me. While I don't pray for anyone to fall sick or go through any health challenge, I however pray that God will also send you helpers whenever you're in distress just as you all stood by me in my time of distress," he declared.
