Report from an anonymous source says that Itsekiri community workers are presently protesting at the Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, Escravos yard over nonpayment of arrears agreed between them and the company.

According to the source, the peaceful protesters have refused to leave the premises for weeks now as they attempt to get the company to key into their demands.

The source said: "Itsekiri community workers that do come from the villages around Escravos to work in the yard and close every evening refuse to go out of the yard for the past weeks now.

“They said Chevron should pay them the arrears of the new increment that was agreed between both party's.”

On the protest he said that the protesters “match from Chevron North gate to Airport and match back with a military man ahead of them to make the match peaceful.”

So far no violence has been reported or recorded. This is a developing story.
