GYC: Mobile Parliament sets Constitution review in motion, to screen sociocultural nominees ahead Amaseikumor

The Mobile Parliament of the Gbaramatu Youth Council, GYC, Worldwide in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, as led by its Speaker, Rt. Hon. Comr. Doubra Timiyan, has set up a 5-man Constitution Review Committee at its first plenary sitting, among other key decisions that were taken to enhance the operations of the Council.

The plenary sitting, which also had in attendance some executive members of the GYC as led by the President, Mr. Egbejule Arerebo Kingsley, and all 20 elected members of the Parliament, held at the CDOS Hotel and Suites, Refinery Road, Effurun, on Wednesday, March 27, 2025.

Parliament members in attendance including the five principal officers, are the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Odiki Paul Miebi; the Clerk, Hon. Ubebe B. Kester Denyefa; the Deputy Clerk, Hon. Vera Dekawei; Chief Whip, Hon. Ejoh Michael. 

Others are Hon. Roland Mala, Hon. Ubebe Stephen Arerepade, Hon. Faraju Sunday, Hon. Franklin Ikpidi, Hon. Mieyenteigha Destiny, Hon. Kpese Agbasa Eric, Hon. Okoritse Tusino Stanley, Hon. Ebimiesinde Ozuke Samuel, Hon. Nebragho Shadrack Etimiodimene, Hon. James Ebiororo Ogirenbagha, Hon. Erebu Tonbra Dennis, Hon. Godday Tamar Seide, Hon. Douglas Obey Maxwell, Hon. Okito Christian, and Hon. Prince Doutimi Cousin.

The plenary sitting also witnessed the submission by the President of the GYC, the Socio-cultural Committee nominee list for the forthcoming Amaseikumor Festival to parliament members for further scrutiny.

On the review of the GYC Constitution, the 5-man committee that was set up was chaired by Hon. Franklin Ikpidi (from Azama, Zone B) while other members are Hon. Douglas Maxwell, Hon. Godday Seide, Hon. Roland Mala, and Hon. Ebimiesinde Samuel.

The members of the Constitution Review Committee were tasked to painstakingly review the Constitution inorder to identify and make recommendations to the Parliament on clauses that needed amendments toward improving the workings of the Council.

The plenary sitting is the first since the members of the Mobile Parliament were elected at the first Congress organised by the Mr Egbejule-led executives at Sarabubou community, on Friday, January 24, 2025.
