GYC: Embrace unity, transparency in kingdom devt — Aketekpe charges Egbejule-led youth council
A revered monarch in the Niger Delta, the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, His Royal Majesty, Oboro Gbaraun II (JP), Aketekpe, Agadagba, has charged the executive officers of the Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC) as led by its President Mr. Egbejule Kingsley to unite together as one indivisible body and to be transparent in the discharge of their duties towards the development of the kingdom.
His Royal Majesty gave the counsel when the executive officers of the GYC, led by ex-president Comr. Shadrach Ebikeme, paid a familiarization visit to the traditional palace in Oporoza, the headquarters of the kingdom on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.
Recall that the Mr. Egbejule-led GYC were elected in a peaceful election and inaugurated on March 1, 2024. Other council members include Mr. Stephen Uyas (Vice President), Mr. Erike Raphael (Secretary General), Miss Theresa Tolar (Assistant Secretary), Mr. Wuruyai Maxwell (Public Relations Officer, PRO), Miss Onitsha Evidence (Financial Secretary), Miss Bolei Seiyefa (Treasurer), Mr. Kpadowei Kelvin (Chief Organizer) and Mr. Godswill Uroju (Assistant Chief Organizer).
Aketekpe, who was elated during the visit, counseled the umbrella body of the youths in the kingdom to shun internal conflicts, to unite together to move the Gbaramatu Kingdom forward as well as embrace transparency and objectivity in the execution of their duties, especially in ensuring that projects embarked by the Council be made known to all.
In his response, the GYC President Mr. Egbejule thanked His Majesty for the honour in receiving them, for the hospitality given the Council members, and for the fatherly counsel, and promised that himself and fellow exco members will not disappoint.
Highpoint of the visit was the offer of prayers by His Majesty on the GYC and its executive officers for God's protection, wisdom, and strength for them to succeed in the task of contributing their quota to the development of the kingdom.
Meanwhile, the former GYC President, Comr. Ebikeme, who was part of the leadership that led the current Council members on the familiarization visit hailed His Majesty for his royal wisdom and for the support the previous executives received when they were in office.
In line with His Majesty's counsel, Comr. Ebikeme called on the Mr. Egbejule-led GYC exco to key into the vision of uniting and bringing the Gbaramatu youths together and to engage the youths through meetings in order for them to air their opinions as a way of contributing their part.
