GYC ELECTION: “We Will Always Put the Interests of Gbaramatu First” — Ikenya Wisdom tells Youth President, Stakeholders in Congratulatory Message
A former youth presidential candidate in the just concluded Gbaramatu Youth Council's (GYC) election, Comr. Ikenya Wisdom, has congratulated the winner and president, Mr. Egbejule Kingsley, while promising the youth president and other stakeholders that the interests of the riverine Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, will always be paramount above self interest.
Comr. Ikenya made this known in a congratulatory message he signed and made available to PENGlobal Community on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
Recall that Comr. Ikenya is one among the top three contenders for the GYC president position, but emerged second after polling 15 votes from 44 valid votes cast by delegates in the national election that held in Oporoza community on Friday, March 1.
The former GYC presidential candidate in his congratulatory text said: "We will always put the interests of Gbaramatu first, we will be working with the new executive to make sure those plans and aims we have for Gbaramatu youth must be achieved. On this note permit me to say there is no loser and a win for one is a win for all," he added.
While further congratulating the winner, Comr. Ikenya, who hails from Kunukunuma Federated Community under Zone 3, commended the youths of Gbaramatu for displaying maturity in the conduct of the peaceful and transparent election he said is a new development in the kingdom.
He also called on his supporters and other stakeholders to set aside their grievances and to join hands together to move the youth council, and in extension the kingdom, forward.
In his words, "Gbaramatu youths have decided and chosen their leaders to run the affairs of the Council for the next three years. It was great contest between all aspirants and such election has never happened in the history of GYC. That is to say the youths are becoming more aware and also nurturing the zeal to work for the betterment of the kingdom.
"So therefore, on this vein, I want to use this medium to congratulate the winners and to urge all Gbaramatu youths and also my supporters to keep their grievances aside and embrace the new leadership of our revered Council and work hand in hand with the newly elected executives to see a better and developed kingdom.
"Congratulations Kingsley Egbejule. God bless you all, God bless GYC," he concluded in the statement.
