GYC ELECTION: Opuede Youth Council Alleges Change of Name in Master's Delegate List

updated 29 Feb, 2024

The Opuede Youth Council (OYC), the youth umbrella body in Opuede Federated Community, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, has alleged a change in the list of delegates it forwarded to the Electoral Committee saddled with the task to conducting the general election.

This was made known by the Preident of the OYC, Comr. Ernest Bouy, in a text message to PENGlobal Politics on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Recall that the GYC Electoral Committee as led by its Chairman Mayor Ipopo Present, and Secretary Comr. Joshua Otuaro, poised to conduct a free and fair election, had published the masters list of delegates that will be participating in the general election scheduled for Friday, March 1, 2024 at Oporoza community, headquarters of the Kingdom.

Part of the message reads: "The two delegate names that [was] submitted to the zone leader, Mr Mike Itima, Vice President, GYC, have been changed by unknown person.

"One of the person's name submitted to the zone leader, Mr Mike Itima, Vice President, GYC, has been changed to someone else.

"The correct names for the delegates submitted to the zone leader Mr Mike Itima are: Ernest Bouy, and Sunday Faraju," the OYC alleges.

Opuede community is among the communities making up Zone 1 among the five zones in the kingdom. The list of Zome 1 delegates as published by the Electoral Committee are: Godswill Doubra Wuruyai (Ikpokpo), Victor Aboh and Fidelis Agbunase (Tebujor), Nanakumor Ebikeme and Arerepade Ubebe (Opuedebubor), Ernest Bouy and Beke Fineboy (Opuede); Miyentugha James, Gbonale Bakumor and Ekpokeme Joel Ayis (Oporoza).

Comr. Ezekiel therefore called on the GYC Electoral Committee and other stakeholders to effect the correction needed and to ensure that justice is done by those in charge of the election process for a free and fair process.
