GYC 2024: United Brothers of Gbaramatu Rallies Support for Presidential Aspirant Comr. Ikenya Wisdom, Calls for Transparent Election

A nongovernmental organisation and sociocultural group in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, the United Brothers of Gbaramatu (UBG), has thrown their weight behind Comr. Ikenya Wisdom Denyefa, a youth aspirant jostling for the position of president in the Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC) Worldwide.
The UBG made its position known through its Public Relations Officer (P.R.O), Pina Ogrenfa, in a chat with PENGlobal Politics penultimate weekend.
Recall that the presidential aspirant, Comr. Ikenya, who is representing Zone 3 Kunukunuma Federated Community and a member of the UBG, had declared for the top position with agenda for youth development, job creation and all-inclusiveness of the Gbaramatu youths if elected.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Ogrenfa, the UBG P.R.O. bemoaned the poor state of the majority of Gbaramatu youths, who, despite living in an oil producing area, have been neglected intellectually and physically by the government and oil companies, resulting in poverty and unemployment.
He said, "The UBG member and GYC presidential aspirant deserves all the support he can get to win this election as he has a bright vision which we believe in the long term will break the shackles of unemployment and lack of human capital development that are bedeviling majority of the youths in Gbaramatu Kingdom."
Ogrenfa also noted that the GYC has not had a better time as this with the golden opportunity presented to the youths through the general election to decide the kind of leadership the youth body deserves.
"We are charging the youths of Gbaramatu to join hands together with the presidential aspirant from Zone 3 Kunukunuma, Comr. Ikenya, who has been tested and tried in leadership, to give him a chance through their massive support to bring about a progressive new council.
“We are assuring them (the youths) that Comr. Ikenya will not disappoint if given the mantle to lead this prestigious youth body and take it to an admirable height among youth bodies in the Niger Delta region.” the P.R.O. affirmed.
The United Brothers of Gbaramatu also called on the Electoral Committee to be free and fair in the process, beginning from the screening of aspirants to the main election that will produce the president and other principal officers of the GYC.
The GYC general election, according to the Electoral Committee Chairman and Secretary, Mayor Ipopo Present and Comr. Joshua Otuaro, respectively, is billed for March 1 in Oporoza community, headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom.
