Comr. Ikenya Wisdom Denyefa has successfully emerged as candidate for the position of president in the Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC) Worldwide, the umbrella body of youths in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, after undergoing a rigorous screening exercise by the Electoral Committee on Thursday, February 22.

Comr. Ikenya, the former aspirant cum candidate representing Kunukunuma Federated Community in Zone 3, made this known in a statement after the screening exercise that held in Maxin Lotus hotel, Ekpan, ahead of the GYC general election that is fixed for March 1, 2024.

Speaking on the exercise, the Kunukunuma youth and presidential candidate commended the Electoral Committee that is chaired by Mayor Ipopo Present, for displaying fairness and transparency in the conduct of the screening exercise.

While reaffirming his agenda of development for the youths of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Comr. Ikenya said he is determined to change the narrative of Gbaramatu youths noting that every reasonable youth demand an equitable and just society that guarantees their interest, but that it will take collaborative efforts to make it a reality.

In his words, "Earlier today, I was screened and cleared as a candidate to run for the forthcoming GYC election slated for 1st of March 2024 to continue to do the good works of the outgoing exco’s of the Gbaramatu Youth Council.

"It is a well known fact that as young people, we demand a world where we are empowered to lead a happy, inclusive and healthy life; free from any form of discrimination; a world where our rights and choices are respected, so we all can work towards realizing our full potential, to transform our communities and Kingdom at large.

"Therefore, I urge all youths in our kingdom to join this train as we move for a better governance to bring youth development, improved educational standards, job creation and all-inclusive government where all voices will be heard and all youths carried along for the betterment of our dear kingdom."

Comr. Ikenya further appealed to the youths to believe and trust in his candidacy, saying that "With me, our dear Council is in safe hands and I'm ready to deliver good governance to our kingdom in terms of human capital development.

"A vote for me is a vote for unity, progress and development; a vote for me is a vote for the voice of the youth," he proclaimed.
