GBARAMATU: Thousands to Benefit as IYC Rallies Stakeholders for Phase 2 of Free Medical Outreach
The Gbaramatu Kingdom chapter of the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Worldwide in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, has said that the second phase of its free medical outreach programme targeted at five communities will benefit thousands of rural dwellers as it gets set to embark on the free health initiative aimed at rebuilding, restoring, and reforming the health of the people.
The IYC Gbaramatu Kingdom Chapter under the leadership of Comr. Wilson Uduboh, made the disclosure recently in a statement it released through its Secretary General, Comr. Oyinkuro Wazo.
According to Comr. Oyinkuro, "The five communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom that will be reached out to in the phase 2 of the medical outreach programme are Egwa, Pepe-ama, Tebujoh, Ubafagha, and Abiteye.
"The inhabitants of the communities that are to be visited will be sensitized on preventive measures to adopt to stay healthy as well as they will be subjected to free medical tests with treatments and drugs to be made available to beneficiaries."
While noting the peculiarity of the terrain the communities are located in which makes accessibility to healthcare a challenge for most inhabitants, the initiators of the medical outreach programme called on stakeholders such as the federal and state government agencies, companies, non-government organisations (NGOs), individuals, among others to key into the programme to make the phase 2 a huge success.
"We use this medium to remind as well as to solicit for the continuous support from stakeholders of this laudable initiative to rise up once again to assist us to achieve this huge task.
"We also call on the federal and state governments through their various agencies, their health ministers and commissioners to key into this initiative. Also, to corporate organisations particularly heads of oil companies, to non-government organisations, well to do business owners and individuals to partner with us in this second phase," the IYC appealed.
It would be recalled that mid-year, the IYC Gbaramatu Kingdom Chapter embarked on phase 1 of the medical outreach programme to the two communities of Kantu and Igoba, wherein over 200 people benefitted from the free health initiative.
