GBARAMATU: Opuede community suspends chairman, announces interim leadership
The people of Opuede Federated Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, have announced the suspension of the community chairman, Barr. Mackson Ode, and the Vice Chairman, Mr. Patrick Eko, for a consecutive period of eight months.
The suspension of the chairman and vice chairman of Opuede Federated Community, for a duration of eight months, begins officially from Friday, October 24, 2025.
According to the notice announcing the suspension, which was signed by the Amadiwei of the community, Chief Williams Tortor, the collective and unanimous decision to suspend was reached at a general meeting that held in Opuede Federated Community on Friday, October 24, 2025.
Chief Tortor, who was a former chairman of the community, also said that, "In the meantime, Mr. Sunday Ibime Faraju, has been announced as the Chairman of Opuede Federated Community to oversee its affairs until further directives are given to that effect."
It was also revealed that an Investigative panel has been set up by the community, led by Pastor Joseph Fred Faraju as Chairman and Ayibakuro Orubu as Secretary, with Mike Itima as Vice Chairman alongside three other members.
Their roles are to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations levelled against the suspended chairman and the vice chairman within the period of suspension.
Meanwhile, "The members of the public are cautioned to desist from engaging in any transaction with the Chairman and Vice Chairman until the suspension is lifted," Chief Tortor said, and further added that "henceforth, all Opuede related affairs are to be transacted with the acting Chairman for the time being. Anyone who violates this instruction does so at his/her own risk," he warned.
