GBARAMATU CURRENT AFFAIRS: Ekpemupolo Flags Off Initiative With Visit to Aketekpe
The founder, initiator and promoter of a community-based oriented magazine, Gbaramatu Current Affairs, Frank Ekpemupolo Esq., has flagged-off the initiative with an official visit to the Pere of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oboro Gbaraun II (JP), Aketekpe, Agadagba.
The official visit by Ekpemupolo Esq. and members of his team, aimed at intimating the Pere and seeking his blessings toward the execution and success of the project, held at His Majesty's private residence on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
The team were received on behalf of His Majesty by High Chief Julius Tonfawei, the Perediwei of Gbaramatu Kingdom; Chief Julius Ogoba, the Amadiwei of Kenyagbene community; and Chief (Hon.) Friday Bobo, the Ebi-Ibenanawei of Gbaramatu Kingdom. Also in attendance is the chairman of Oporoza community, Hon. Godwin Febaide.
In his briefing, Ekpemupolo Esq. intimated the Pere on the vision behind the initiative as well as introduced the inaugurated members that would help pilot the initiative, moving it from an idea to reality.
He thanked the Pere for giving the team audience despite His Majesty's busy schedule and appealed to Aketekpe for the support of the traditional council to make the initiative a success.
Earlier, the Perediwei, on behalf of Aketekpe, thanked the team for the honour given His Majesty by deeming it fit to inform the traditional father of such a laudable initiative.
On his part, Aketekpe lauded the initiative, and described it as a right step in the right direction, but cautioned them to consult widely to get the correct facts they would be publishing in the tabloid in order not to misinform the public.
His Majesty assured them of his total support as the initiative will help to promote the kingdom and offered them his blessings.
Among other highlights during the official visit include the presentation of a branded shirt of the Gbaramatu Current Affairs by Ekpemupolo Esq. to His Majesty, received by High Chief Tonfawei, as well as entertainment and group photograph session.
Among those in attendance are the Chairman of Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Gbaramatu Kingdom chapter, Comr. Zikurebai Oyinkuro Wazo; alongside the previously inaugurated research team members: Wuruyai Maxwell, Saturday David, Elekute Tamarapreye, Apiti Phanuel, Kpadowei Kelvin, Kennedy Promise, Joko Princess, and Abei Ediseimokumor.
The Gbaramatu Current Affairs is a magazine detailing facts about the ancient riverine kingdom designed with the intent to correct the wrong narratives about the kingdom while also fulfilling the purpose of educating natives and the general public about the culture and tradition of the Gbaramatu people.
