updated 14 Aug, 2024

Frank Ekpemupolo Esq., initiator of the upcoming magazine, the Gbaramatu Current Affairs, has inaugurated a research team to help in the implementation of action-plans toward the actualization of the project at the Casa De Pedro Hotel in Effurun, Delta State, on Thursday, August 1, 2024.

The Gbaramatu Current Affairs is a magazine with detailed informative facts about the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta, aimed at creating enlightenment to both Gbaramatu and the general public about the coastal kingdom.

The current members of the research team inaugurated include Wuruyai Maxwell, Saturday David, Elekute Tamarapreye, Apiti Phanuel, Kpadowei Kelvin, Kennedy Promise, Joko Princess, and Abei Ediseimokumor, with other members to join the team later on.

Ekpemupolo Esq. while briefing the inaugurated members of the research team charged them to give their best and to work together in unity of purpose towards the actualisation of the goal and objectives set before them.

He reminded members of the importance of the magazine project, highlighting the daunting task before them as they begin the process of sourcing, gathering, verifying, accumulating, editing and generating the required information that cut across sections of history, culture, politics, among others.

"This project has been planned since 2019, the year the Nigeria Maritime University was to be kickstarted," said Ekpemupolo Esq. as he delved into the background of the project.

"With the NMU in our kingdom, a lot of persons will be trooping into our kingdom. If we are not prepared to tell our story the way it ought to be told, strangers like students of the NMU will come, and after four or five years they will go back with wrong knowledge of the kingdom because some of them might have been fed with false stories.

"Moreover, we cannot force parents to carry their children to the community for economic and several reasons, but one thing that is certain is that every parents want a good education for their children. So therefore, if they fail to take their children to the community, they will not fail to train their children," he added.

Continuing further he said, "And so, thinking outside the box, we can bring the information to their doorsteps. All they need to do is to pick a copy of Gbaramatu Current Affairs. Everything they need to know about Gbaramatu Kingdom they will get it in the magazine.

"And again, we can partner with the school (NMU), if this current affairs is being approved, at the end of the day it can be commercialized and made compulsory for students studying there to have copies for enlightenment," he stressed.

Comr. Wuruyai, on behalf of the research team members, commended the initiator, Ekpemupolo Esq., for the laudable vision and thanked him for the opportunity given them to contribute to the growth of the kingdom.

Other highlights of the inauguration include a brainstorming session where members interfaced and shared ideas on what to do to ensure the project lives up to expectations.
