FUNERAL: The Last of SamTed as Families, Friends, Sympathisers Bid Farewell to the Late Sampson Ederikumor Teide

Known popularly as Sam Ted, amidst a downpour of tears from family members and friends, the remains of the late Elder Sampson Ederikumor Teide, the Managing Director of Sam Ted Nigeria Limited, was laid to eternal rest in his hometown Kokodiagbene community, Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, on Friday, July 19, 2024.

The late Sam Ted, who caved in to an health issue he had been battling with for some time, sadly, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, at the age of 64 years.

Until his sudden demise he was an elder and opinion leader in the oil-rich Kokodiagbene community as well as the chairman of Teidegbene community. Still on leadership, the late Sam Ted once held the position of Executive Chairman of Kokodiagbene, and played a crucial role in contributing to the growth and development of the community.

Honouring his memories, the Comrade Pedro Tuwayerin Bekenawei-led exco, in a written tribute on behalf of Kokodiagbene community, eulogised the late Sam Ted as a "man of peace and soft spoken. He is always willing to offer himself and his services to the people of Kokodiagbene as someone who desires the growth and development of the community."

Comrade Bekenawei confessed that the people of Kokodiagbene and Okerenkoko among other communities the late Sam Ted hailed from will surely miss him, and urged the family to stay strong and determined to keep his legacies alive.

"Definitely we will miss him as a leader in the affairs of the community, especially his experienced guided counsels as well as other contributions from his stable.

"We urge the family to be comforted in this trying time as we pray to God to strengthen them in this hour. What is now left is for them to sustain and build on his godly legacies. We pray his soul and those of the departed rest peacefully in the Bosom of the Lord Almighty, Amen."

Highpoints of the ceremony include the singing of hymns, the presentation of the biography of the 64-year-old Sam Ted, words of exhortation, prayers for the family members, interment of the remains of the deceased at his residence in Kokodiagbene, and live musical entertainment by Dr. Alfred Izon-Ebi also known as J. King.

Earlier a service of songs ceremony held in his honour at his private residence in the Udu area of Delta State on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

The burial ceremony on Friday was attended by prominent Gbaramatu citizens among whom are the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor and a former chairman of Warri South-West Local Government Council, Hon. George Ekpemupolo, as well as ministers, heads of religious bodies, friends and other sympathisers, who came to pay their last respect to the deceased.
