FUNERAL: At 65 Dcns Gladys Karawei Ends Earthly Journey as Families Bid Farewell in Tears
Even though the departed souls of those considered as righteous are presumed to be in eternal bliss with their Maker, the hearts of their bereaved families are still weighed heavily with the pains of losing a loved one. It was no different for the families of late Deaconess Mrs. Tutu Gladys Karawei Nee Wariyai, who was laid to eternal rest in Oporoza Town, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
The atmosphere at the brief funeral ceremony, which was attended by sympathisers and other community members, was as usual decorated with sadness and brought to the fore the fact that life on Earth is just a journey with a beginning and an end.

According to her brief biography, the journey of life for the late Dcns Tutu Gladys Karawei began at birth in 1960 into the families of late Pa. Peter Ayesafagha Wariyai of Kenibra and Ikeretimi Quarters, Oporoza Town, and late Mrs. Atiti Amazene Wariyai of Aruku Quarter in Azama, and Nie-Bralabor Quarters in Benikrukru Community, all in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.
At a very tender age, she accompanied her mother (of blessed memory) to Sokebolou Community in Burutu Local Government Area where her mother was engaged in fishing. As a result, she attended Sokebolou Primary School to Primary 5 and later continued her education at Fiyewe Primary School, Oporoza Town, where she obtained her first school living certificate.
Late Mrs Tutu Gladys Karawei got married to her beloved husband (of blessed memory), Captain Karawei Tobi Tom in 1980. Their union was blessed with seven children, but was survived with six children (four boys and two girls), and 15 grandchildren.

Until her death, she was an active and devoted member of the Royal Power Bible Ministry International where she was ordained as a Deaconess. She had the love of the Church at heart and played the role of a mother till her death.
She was a dedicated trader at Ogbe-Ijoh market for many years, continuing her business after the death of her beloved husband until her own passing on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
She was deeply fond of her children and grandchildren. She was a mother to everyone that comes in contact with her. Very lovely, kind and selfless. Even in her final moments, her four-month-old grandchild was lovingly strapped at her back before the cold hands of death snatched her away.

She was a source of inspiration, loved, admired and appreciated by all who knew her, both within and outside the Church.
We shall see you on the resurrection morning. May your gentle soul continue to reign. Rest in perfect peace. Amen. Adieu Mama.
