FUEL SUBSIDY REMOVAL: Take Cue From Other Governors, Journalist Ukah Urges Oborevwori
A concerned journalist in Delta State and principal correspondent of Delta State-based online newspaper, Fresh Angle International, Celestine Ukah, has urged Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to take a cue from other governors in the country and immediately provide palliatives for Deltans, to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.
According to Ukah, while other governors are making visible commitments and interventions by providing free / affordable buses for residents in their states as well as adding to the salaries of civil / public servants, Governor Oborevwori has failed to make any pronouncement.
“Governor Oborevwori hasn't made any pronouncement in terms of interventions and palliatives, that would reduce the sufferings of people living in Delta State, since the fuel price increase,” Ukah noted.
The Warri-based media practitioner, who is also an online editor, slammed Governor Oborevwori, stating that the: “N5 billion you promised to release in tranches for promotion arrears of civil servants is not a palliative, it is the entitlement of the workers.
“Delta State received over N23 billion from FAAC barely two weeks ago. If we tabulate the allocation received since your assumption of office in May 29, as well as Internally Generated Revenue of June and July this year, you (Governor Oborevwori) would have received over N65 billion.
"Yet, no body language from your administration to show that you care about the pains residents of the state are going through," he stressed.
